I'm very glad to see TVLAND put Maverick with James Garner back on. I'm not a huge TV western fan but I've always enjoyed this show and Wild Wild West with Robert Conrad. Here's a list of television shows I think would work on TVLAND.

Six Million Dollar Man

Sheriff Lobo (For TVLAND KITCHEN)

Wild Wild West

Jack Benny (To Repalce Burn's & Allen)

Lucy Show or Here's Lucy (Let's Give I Love Lucy a brief rest
while still keeping Lucy on TVL)

Cannon (Let's find a nice daytime slot for this very underrated show)

One Day At A Time (A Great Family show that need's a good home)

Does anyone else have any comments or questions or add to my list or take away from it?

Hate to tell you this, but according to Pavanbadal in the April 2004 TV Land predictions thread, he says Maverick is expiring(meaning it's leaving TV Land).

Hey Brent88,

I sure hope your wrong about TVLAND pulling Maverick in April, I was so glad to see it back on. To me the show is like Rockford Files in the old west.

I'd also like to see "Bret Maverick" that short-lived revival of "Maverick" that NBC showed for 1 season in the early 80s. It was called "Bret Maverick" because it was just about Bret, but Bart made a cameo in the last episode.

I agree Treky,

it would be really cool to see the show Bret Maverick again. I liked the show and wished the network would have given it more of a try. I think if I'm not mistaken their was also a couple of reunion specials before bringing the show back.

I got an idea for TVLAND,

I think that TVLAND should have a viewer's choice of scheduling and a viewer's choice of shows. TVLAND can have a TV special with a variety of different classic programs that we as viewers can vote for by either phone or by an online vote. That way TVLAND can give the majority of their viewers the programing they want insted of having the few programing managers picking and chosing what they want us to watch.

N@N airs Full House, Roseanne, Wings, and Cheers, in addition to The Cosby Show. Sure, I'd like to see more shows on there, but they don't JUST air Cosby Show.

These programing managers need to wake up and smell the coffee. There are soooooo many classic shows to pick from that haven't been on television for years and years. But instead of offering more of a variety through the day, these stations like to show multiple blocks of the same 4 or 5 shows. Lets give people what they want and let them vote on it.:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Well maybe N@N plays more then TCS and I am not starting a hate thread, but they play(ed) other shows at a really late hour and give TCS earlier time slots and only an hour block of Roseanne as a break, but on the other hand they do play only 5 shows, and treat TCS really good and tend to treat other shows crappy. And I think the problem is that N@N has been loaded down with TCS and will or has had other Cosby related shows i.e. Kids Say with Cosby as Host, Fatherhood coming and TCS and Roseanne can be seen on lots of other channels and is it really needed that much?

After saying that I think that N@N should stick to their original idea that they had back when they played Donna Reed, Patty Duke, etc... and if they want to move out of the Black and white TV shows and into the more modern day then they should not just show 5 shows within a 9 hour period and they should show a variety of other shows even if they play the show in its entirety and then rotate it around with another show and then go back to it again later if they still have airings left and the rights to the show. I dont think that we need to see the same show over and over for several years not giving way for other shows that are just as good and "modern tv classics" really are N@N thinking that there are only 5 shows worthy of being modern tv classics? That they not only have to show them on N@N they have to show them also on TV Land?

I see your point, but it's all about ratings. The thing is... The Cosby Show is N@N's highest-rated show. Family Ties was taken off N@N(and cut back on TV Land) because of low ratings, not because N@N(and TV Land's) programming department hates the show. We may not like it... but that's the way it is.

Barwars88,
Just because you REALLY like TCS doesn't mean everyone else does.

I never said i REALLY like TCS (although I do like it)
Im just sick of people bashing other shows.

And what I was really annoyed was that *almost* every one of your posts somehow bashs TCS.
idk.... i just thing bashing TCS really had nothing to do with this thread.

I never said everyone likes it.
(but look at the ratings -- people like it a lot more than other shows)

Its fine that you don't like TCS, I just feel that you dont need to bring in your feelings for it into EVERY conversation on these boards.

Not necessarily so...most cable networks that have aired soap reruns (SOAPnet, TBS, Sci-Fi, USA) either air one or two episodes a day, depending on how long the show is (2 if it's a half-hour, 1 if it's a hour).

I don't think it's a bad idea, but on the other hand TV Land changes its schedule way too much and probably wouldn't want to commit to airing a show with such a volume of episodes…they’d probably stop way before the final episode, like they did with Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman. (Yeah, I know…it was probably always meant as a short-term show…but eh.).

IMO, it would still be better than having them recycling the same shows over and over again.

I don't think The Wonder Years is "too new" for being on TV Land since the show was set in the late 1960's / early 1970's. With that said, I think it will fit well on TV Land. Besides, doesn't Nick at Nite's 1998 fall schedule ring a bell? I sure hope so . . .

I personally think Mama's Family is just a continuation of the "Family" skits that were originally from The Carol Burnett Show. With that said, it would be nice to see those original "family" skits ("Carol Burnett & Friends") and the updated version ("Mama's Family") of it shown together. So in a sense, IMO, Mama's Family is apart of the "original" Classic Television.

As for The Golden Girls, I would love to see it end up on TV Land OR Nick at Nite one of these days. It's pure 100% classic, IMO. TGG will hopefully go to N@N first and then TV Land.

As far from what I think, I have nothing against the show Family Ties. It just doesn't fit that well with the other shows on TV Land. Besides, TV Land was meant to cater shows of 1950's to 1970's via some exceptions, not 80's sitcoms. That's Nick at Nite's job.

Why should there be an exception for The Golden Girls, when it's a 1980's sitcom and as you stated 1980 sitcoms don't belong on TV Land, so that would include TGG. The Golden Girls is a good show, it just sounds like you are playing favorites. If Family Ties doesn't fit then TGG, etc. wouldn't fit. TGG wasn't aired during the 1950's-1970's so TV Land wouldn't cater to it as you put it, nor would Mama's Family or The Wonder Years. If you let one 1980's show air (ex: TGG) then you have to allow other 1980 shows to air also. Family Ties is 22 years old, that would be considered classic, esp. if you say that TGG, Mama's Family, and The Wonder Years are classics, so is FT. So, if it's N@N's job to air Family Ties, then it's N@N's job to air TGG, MF, and TWY.

I think LucyFan just wants to make exceptions for his favorite shows. I think Family Ties and Cheers fit better than the Golden Girls would. The Golden Girls is even worse on the timeline because it is a 80s-early 90s sitcom. We had such a fight on another thread over 80s sitcoms on TV Land and now he is suggesting 80s shows for TV Land. I want to keep Mama's Family where it is on TBS because they have played it consistently for 7 years. TV Land would never do that. Personally, I wish Family Ties would go back to TBS too.

curtis

TVLAND should stick to the television shows that were made back in the 1950's, 60's and early 70's. N@N should stay with the television shows that are from the late 1970's, 80's and early 90's. But that's in a perfect world isn't it?
