I bought the DVD a few days ago and was just wondering what other people thought of this film.
And for a more negative question.... is anyone getting tired of the films Ron Howard is making?

Hi Screenwriter ! I loved The Missing, saw it in the theater, and also bought the DVD. I thought Ron did a great job on this movie. I found the characters in the movie were very well developed, nuanced and believeable. While some of the reviews I have read complain the film is boring, I found it riveting and very entertaining but with more violence and darker than most of Ron's films. The acting was outstanding as it usually is in Ron's movies. Cate Blanchett and Tommy Lee Jones were just about perfect, and with the supporting players made for a very engaging movie. The audience in the theater where I saw it seemed completely wrapped up in the story.
And, no, I never get tired of Ron's films. I have loved Ron's work since his Opie days, and feel he is an ever evolving director who is very popular with the best actors because he really know how to work with actors.
I also enjoyed the home movies on the DVD extras, although I have seen 2 of them in the past often on TV.
Robyrob The Missing was of course directed by Ron Howard and released in November, but got lost in the onslaught of holiday films. It came out on DVD last week. It is sort of a western, but really a family drama.
