When director Blake Edwards received a lifetime acheivement Oscar, they showed 3 scenes of John from the 1989 movie "SkinDeep"

And during the "In Memorium" segment remembering all the stars that we lost last year, I was very Happy & at the same time Sad to see John, but I'm Glad that John was being remembered at the Oscars! The Beautiful clips that they choose of John were from the movies: Problem Child(1990), Real Men(1987), & a Beautiful close-up of John's face from SkinDeep(1989)

It was nice to see John in the Blake Edwards honoring. I had been anticipating the "In Memorium" section, but those additional clips were a nice bonus. Edwards always praised John Ritter's work, and I'm sure he was one of the many he had in mind when he was thanking all for getting him to where he was today.

I wish they had also shown a clip of him from "Sling Blade".

Definetly should have been nominated. But Sling Blade was nominated for many awards, including Best Picture. The Academy has the tendency to split up honors, and felt that they had already given Sling Blade it's fair share, which is unfortunate.

Still, I think it's a testimony to his skill that his co-star, Billy Bob Thornton, who wrote the part for him, and praised his talents as a dramatic actor, was nominated for Best Actor. Ritter's talent helped him get there, unquestionably.
