View Full Version : Homeliest Character on Leave it to Beaver
Michael [hXc] 02-29-2004, 05:41 PM Who was the homeliest character on Leave it to Beaver? For me, it is a tie between fire eater Jeff, Gus the fireman, and Fred Rutherford. What do you think? (I chose Gus the Fireman. He is one of my favorites, but he is the homeliest)
duluthduke 03-02-2004, 12:58 AM Gus wasn't homely, he was just old! Aunt Martha is my choice for homeliest, followed by Larry Mondello's poor substitute Harry!
Michael [hXc] 03-02-2004, 08:42 AM I forgot about Aunt Martha. I change to her.
UncleBilly 03-02-2004, 09:39 AM Mrs. Mondello would be my choice for homliest character.
1954Boomer 03-02-2004, 10:22 AM I'm going with aunt Martha, too.
Interesting set of choices in that Judy, Penny, and Harry are not included, nor the rare one I might vote for, Charles Fredericks. But Jeff the fire-eater [supposedly], who appeared in one ep??
I'll give you credit, though, that Wally's 'honeys' [Julie, Mary Ellen, Alma] didn't need mention.
hawaii five-o 03-02-2004, 09:25 PM Judy, Tooey, Fred and Lumpy Rutherford.
By the way, what are June and Miss Landers doing on this survey. If you think they're ugly, you need to have your head examined.
Michael [hXc] 03-02-2004, 10:03 PM I put them there because I was listing all of the main characters. I think they are pretty.
duluthduke 03-02-2004, 11:24 PM There is also Birthday Boy David Manning!
If we really want to consider one-episode characters as candidates for the "homeliest" in LITB, then how about....
The garbageman, Henry, in "The Grass is Always Greener"?
The big man who says he was gotten 'out of the shower' by Beaver and Gilbert when they were collecting in "Community Chest"?
The old drunk who knocked Wally's date, Kathy, into the fountain in "All Night Party"?
The woman who came to pick up her chihuahua in "Beaver and Pancho"?
The woman in the waiting room at Juvenile Court who says "Now what could a nice boy like you have done?" in "Beaver Takes a Drive"?
There is seemingly no end to the one-ep characters in this question. Maybe the best is one doesn't qualify as a character,; the old woman whose portrait is on the wall in at the adoption agency in "Beaver Gets Adopted"; her white hair is in a bun and she has a rather severe expression.
duluthduke 03-03-2004, 12:47 AM Like Gus I don't think "Mister Jeff" was homely, just old!
bandito 03-03-2004, 08:23 AM How about Mrs Rayburn, she always seemed pretty homely to me..

Yeah but she was a pretty cool principal though. :)

Michael [hXc] 03-03-2004, 05:00 PM Sorry for this poorly designed survey. I put all of the good looking people on and all of the truly homely people off. Sorry.
Miss Landers and June are NOT homely, and neither is Gus or Jeff.
frani 03-03-2004, 05:48 PM Definitely Larry. Not cause he's chubby either. It was his personality and expressions that i couldn't stand.
vze3t9q9 03-03-2004, 06:59 PM I personally think this is a strange post. People can't help what they look like. Shame shame on this poster. Next you will be saying you would you put on pinup calender. Everybody can't look like miss america or mr universe.
MikeZ 03-03-2004, 07:42 PM I agree with you vze3t9q9, but I don't think the poster meant any harm.
There is beauty in everyone, if you just look for it.
Even if there were some "homely" person, I would never name them, out of respect for the actor, and any of their friends or family, who may just be lurking here.
The only exception would be "Wally", who was just butt-ugly.
:)

I agree. It's a pretty cruel post and survey.
Michael [hXc] 03-03-2004, 08:52 PM I think it was a bad idea to make this post. The people will be mad if they see that we picked their character as 'homeliest'. Should I delete it or not?
hawaii five-o 03-03-2004, 09:38 PM Don't delete it. Some people are being too sensitive.
Michael [hXc] 03-03-2004, 09:46 PM I didn't mean any harm, and thank you for understanding it. It was on the TV Land board and I wanted to see what people thought. I'd feel bad if anyone called me 'homely'.
1954Boomer 03-04-2004, 10:43 AM I don't see any harm in the post either.
vze3t9q9 03-05-2004, 08:35 PM Thank you MikeZ. I do think gee there are actors who played parts on the show and to say they were homely might make them feel a lttle bad. By the way how good looking is the first poster of this thread or homely looking. I really don't want to know. BUt how do you feel about the question. I consider this post closed.
Michael [hXc] 03-05-2004, 08:39 PM I didn't mean to offend anyone with this topic. I don't want anyone to be mad at me for it. If I knew that there were so many people who would dislike it, I wouldn't post it.
MikeZ 03-06-2004, 12:39 AM I am not mad at you at all, BeaverFan5, and I don't think anyone else would be either.
We are all one of a family here, who love LITB, and the actors who played in it. Sometimes even the best ideas just don't work out, but I am sure you didn't mean any harm about it.
You are still and always will be one of our group, please don't worry about it!
frani 03-06-2004, 01:26 AM I think this post was meant in a kind of lighthearted way with no mean intent.
Fall Back Doggie 03-17-2004, 01:33 PM goodness people, I never thought people could be this sensitive and get offended off a TV character! If the person thinks someone is ugly, that's their opinion and they're entitled to it...it's not like he/she is calling you ugly, and if even if they were, who cares, this is just a message board, I highly doubt anything that goes on here is going to affect your lives...some people acting like this is the Disney channel or something...it's all in good nature!
Tap Dancer 05-09-2007, 07:09 PM I thought Judy was a really ugly kid. :p
Coffeecup 05-27-2007, 02:07 PM I read this post from the past few years. I posted and time flies. Sure there a plain jane/joe characters. I suppose if we discussed pretty characters we would get different answers.
comedyfreak 06-01-2007, 08:19 AM I chose Larry Mondello.
