I think the NBA and NHL should not have divisions. It is unnecessary. The way they set up the playoff systems, it does not mean anything, exept who is number 2 seed, and in hockey 2 and 3 seeds. And all of teams in the same conference for the most part play each other the same amount of time reguardless of what division they are in (for example the Knicks play the Pacers the same number of times they play the Nets), unlike in MLB and NFL.
I think the NBA and NHL should just have two conferences, Eastern and Western, and the top 8 teams from each conference get in the playoffs. Basiclly the same playoff system they have now, without dividing the conference into divisions.
If you just win a division title in MLB and NFL, that is a acheivement, unless you are the Yankees or a couple of other teams, but if you just win you division in the NBA or NHL and not make it out of your confrence, it is no big deal.
