I saw the movie "Network" the other night. Watching it was a mind-blowing experience, and i'm still uncertain if it was a good or bad one. The characters reminded me a lot of NewsRadio--less sinister and evil of course. Faye Dunaway's eye expressons and physical gesturing when proposing her ideas was exactly like Lisa. Also like Lisa, she is calculating and is not in touch with humanity. The way that she did not value human life was like Lisa in "Jumper," with her ratings-grabbing ideas with not a thought of the human lives in peril. William Holden's Max is the lone voice of sense, reason, and humanity much like Dave. This conflict interferes and destroys Max & Diana's relationship just like Dave & Lisa's. Lisa values her career more than anything--just like Diana. Mr. James is the maniac owner of the parent company just like Ned Beatty who's madness is the ultimate cause of Howard Beal's death. For he did not care about the ratings, he liked Howard Beale so the network suits who have lost touch with reality as well had to deal with the situation. Also, the communist who produced the show with the Eunican Liberation Army was somewhat Catherine-esque.
