View Full Version : Jerry Seinfeld: Businessman or Villain? Elaine Benes 02-28-2004, 12:49 AM Wow! Jerry does seem like a scumbag after reading that. Brian Damage 02-28-2004, 12:55 AM I created a seperate thread for this article. I think it needs to stand on its own. Dutabi84 02-28-2004, 12:57 AM Originally posted by Brian Damage I created a seperate thread for this article. I think it needs to stand on its own. Ahh..hahaha I was confused for a second there..but good idea. Brian Damage 02-28-2004, 01:10 AM yeah, I though it was a good article from a cast member's perspective. sinatrastar 02-28-2004, 01:35 AM Well this is from one perspective. On the other hand, where does it end? Jerry was a creator of the show and the other 3 were actors. Should Newman be cut in on the deal as well ... ? I certainly think they should get $ for doing the DVD, but whether they need a share of the profits is another matter. Dutabi84 02-28-2004, 01:46 AM Yes, Jerry has every right to hoard the money the show has made. But, it only seems right that the other cast members get some sort of compensation for: a: making the show as good as it was, and still is- -and- b: not being able to have normal acting jobs, because of the tainted views America has on them- Yeah, I know...poor millionaires, not still getting massive paychecks to gas up their fancy rides, or do whathaveyou with the kind of money they have... But Jerry, billions? Brian Damage 02-28-2004, 11:04 AM The way I see it they wanted a piece of the rerun residuals. I think that's fair because they were the stars of the show. Jerry is a billionaire because of that show yet wanted the gand to do the dvd for free. There's something wrong with that. Maestro 02-28-2004, 03:07 PM Not me. I'm more w/ sinatrastar. Does Jer have enough $$$ to go around.... of course he does, it's absurd. Does Porsche-boy seem a bit of a selfish A-hole... always has. Did the 3 contribute to making a good show become great..... of course yes, by their acting. But the 3 were ACTORS on a show. They were hired help lucky to get such an opportunity and they were paid 'just' compensation for a days work. They can't try to work a deal AFTER the work has already been done. You can't go BACK, and say I want a piece of that pie that you guys did.... the deals were already done, it's history. Just because something is a [huge] success you don't change the rules/deal. If any of the 3 wanted royalty pay now, they should have become involved with the creative element or production of the show, that's how it works. The people who take the risks & create the whole thing own it & make the long term royalty type cash. As far as the actors suffering [career wise] by committing and being pidgeon-holed by their parts.... Pfffffffttttttt!!!!! Almost any actor would die for such an opportunity to be in a top show for 8 or 9 years.... that is a career worth big money. I feel NO sympathy for that, and I can usually empathize. IMO, the DVDs are a different story. They will [appartenly] be involved from the ground floor, have some input & probably strike a deal that will include royalty action.... that's all good. Make your deal, cover your butt & do a good job. Brian Damage 02-29-2004, 12:45 PM As always, you make an excellent point Maestro. Dutabi84 02-29-2004, 12:58 PM Yes...that avatar makes it even 2x better. Brian Damage 02-29-2004, 12:59 PM I don't get the avatar. Dutabi84 02-29-2004, 01:25 PM Originally posted by Brian Damage I don't get the avatar. http://media.ebaumsworld.com/index.php?e=shebang.wmv This will help you understand. Maestro 03-01-2004, 12:16 AM  Dutabi - thank you for that.... I thank you... my wife thanks you :D Although it's a little embarrasing, I can watch some crap TV too. That's great - thanx again  Brian Damage 03-01-2004, 11:02 AM  dlemond 03-01-2004, 04:01 PM Besides stealing a man's new bride, Seinfeld also dated a 17 year old girl when he was around 40. He's clearly a decent guy at heart. http://frogstar.com/stern/Celebrities/Jerry%20Seinfeld/shoshana.mp3: Dutabi84 03-01-2004, 04:17 PM Haha..nice. Maestro 03-01-2004, 05:32 PM Some nice Janice Ian there  Boy dlemond... you & I have had some 'nice' Jer posts lately. This is why it's not good to follow celeb's personal lifes too much. Jerry & Larry David has pulled some shnit that could have me irked, but I still find them funny and good at their job. Although sometimes I don't want to make them any more money or fame. As long as it doesn't become too skewed I hope to separate their personal beliefs from their entertaiment value. If they are good at their craft, they will also keep them separate. It's tuff. Len Nicademo 03-01-2004, 06:03 PM I could give a rat's butt what Jerry does in his personal life. He's a funny guy. |
