View Full Version : My Season 3 set came today!
B&W fan 02-24-2004, 01:16 PM Well, I just got my package from Deep Discount DVD. It looks really nice, just like the first two sets. As someone else mentioned, the coloring on the side is a lighter shade than the first two sets, but it looks good.
More great pics on the front of each slimline case. Just a fantastic job by IMAGE (surprise, surprise there).
And I'd be remiss if I didn't once again thank Doug Denoff for his diligence over the past 4 years! I truly believe that without him pushing as hard as he did for these sets, we wouldn't have them today. He should be thanked by all of us!
THANKS DOUG!

Lolac 02-24-2004, 03:29 PM Me, too! As soon as I read your post, I ran out to my mailbox, and sure enough, my season 3 set was there, too! I will be spending a good part of my afternoon watching this set while cleaning out my kids' toy closets in the family room. What a great way to make spring cleaning fun! Happy viewing and happy moving, B&W Fan!

And, yes, Doug Denoff deserves our utmost gratitude! Thanks, Doug!
hank18 02-24-2004, 03:40 PM I'm so jealous! I have 2 more hours until I can go to Best Buy, then I have to go to work! Blechhhh.

Lolac,
That's wonderful. I'm really happy for you. I imagine you are closer to a distribution center for DDD, and I'd expect you will get Season 4 ahead of schedule by a couple of days!

Burford Lives!! 02-25-2004, 01:47 PM I picked mine up from Best Buy last night, used a gift card from X-mas plus the $20 card from my last purchase of TDVDS, so it came to a whopping $7 for me.
Unfortunately, I am a CPA, so viewing time is a premium right now, so I probably won't be able to really get into them until this weekend.
Unlike the first two seasons, there are some specific episodes I have been looking forward to on Season 3, so I will probably be doing some skipping around this time around.
And yes, a big THANK YOU to Doug for all of your diligence. When I first heard of TDVDS coming to DVD, I couldn't believe it. I have about 120 episodes on tape that I taped back in '92 when Nick-at-Nite ran their TDVDS marathon one week, but it's just not the same as the high-quality, UNCUT versions we are getting here.
Lolac 02-25-2004, 02:07 PM Yesterday, while doing some spring cleaning, I threw out all the video tapes of TDVDS that I had recorded from Nick-at-Nite and TV Land. Those tapes represented months of taping and it was a little hard to put them in the garbage, but as Burfod says, there is nothing like the digital quality, uncut version on the DVDs. I was so happy to get my set yesterday and I watched 4 episodes. I am so happy they are not making us wait very long for season 4.

Lolac,
I did the exact same thing yesterday! In preparing to move, I threw out a bunch of old video tapes that I didn't need anymore. And while it was hard to throw out something I invested so much work into, it's easier knowing we've got such high quality sets to watch now!

SawgrassSteve 02-25-2004, 06:11 PM We're all on the same page!
While I didn't throw my cassettes out, I am taping over them. I'm a fan of The Golden Era Of Hollywood, so I've been collecting Humphrey Bogart, Bette Davis and other classic stars' movies that are being shown digitally now.
Cool!

Joe F 02-26-2004, 12:34 PM I'm waiting for season five to come out, then I'm going to buy all five at once.
We're having some renovations done this summer. We're going to rent a cabin while the heaviest work is going on, bring a DVD player, and have DVD marathons every night.
It's been at least two years now since I last watched a DVD episode on TVLand, waiting for this set to come out. Every single episode is going to be as fresh as the day we first saw it. And uncut, too.
Lolac 02-26-2004, 12:41 PM That sounds great, Joe F! You are going to have a wonderful time! I almost envy you. I'd love to be up in a cabin in the mountains with a dvd player and all 5 season of TDVDS. Sounds like the perfect vacation! You'll have to post here after you get back and tell us about your experience.
