I remember reading that "I Love Lucy" helped them cope with the problems in their marriage or lives, what do u think? They said that the shows that had Lucy thinking that Ricky cheated on her or was cheating on her, helped Lucy cope with Desi's affairs. They also said that the "Vitameatavegimin" episode helped Lucy cope with his drinking. Also, the "Monte Carlo" episode helped her cope with his gambling. Does anybody remember reading this somewhere? I'll have to find the site it was on. Also, I read on "JumptheShark.com" under "The Lucy Show" somebody said something like this: "Lucy Ricardo chasing after stars when Ricky made it in Hollywood was funny, it was also somewhat poignant because she wanted to be part of the entertainment world like Ricky and the Mertzes had been but her husband and 'best friends' kept telling her she was talentless thus her hero worship of these other stars showed she was seeking validation as an equal by others because she couldn't get it from the most important people in her life."...i dunno just some physcology or how ever you spell it? Do you think some of this is really what it comes down to??

I've never heard about Vitameatavegamin helping Lucy cope with Desi's drinking or "Lucy Goes to Monte Carlo" to help her cope with his gambling. Desi didn't start heavily drinking until around 1955 and "Lucy Does a TV Commercial" was filmed in 1952, so I don't see how that could be possible. I've heard Lucy say that it did help her to get up and go to work every morning though. Especially when they were unhappy and the marraige was breaking up. I think sometimes it helped them to play the Ricardo's who were happily married versus themselves who were unhappy at the end.

Yes, that's the ONLY part i agree with also, she said herself that going to the set and PLAYING in happy situations together somewhat diffused the real life situations.

It didn't help their marriage to do the show because the broke up when it was over. I think the show prolonged their divorce. They probably would have divorced a lot sooner if they weren't on a hit series.

Yeah I remember Lucy saying herself that working relieved her of her problems too, I guess somebody didn't know what they were talking about.

According to Lucy, the last five years of the marriage were H***, so they would have divorced in '55 instead of '60, but both were professional enough to respect their business commitments! They were contracted to do a show together, and they did, once those ended, so did the marriage, but that was only pieces of paper anyway, their intertwined hearts stayed together for almost 30 more years anyway!
