View Full Version : Another thing in "Breaking the Lease"
x1LucyFanx 02-24-2004, 12:24 AM I forgot to post this earlier but...in the end of "Breaking the Lease" and Desi is singing that song...watch when he's singing, at one point he sticks out his tongue, does he always do that when he sings??? I thought it was something else maybe someone hadn't noticed before.

Huh? Where? When? At what or whom? TONGUE??:D
SPLAIN 02-24-2004, 09:53 AM He'd had some spicy Cuban dish on a break from filming?
Kazza 02-24-2004, 11:07 AM I watched the ep last nite because I had recorded it from before and never saw a tongue sticking out..I was also refering to the way he could roll his Rrrrrrrr'ssss with it:D
SPLAIN 02-24-2004, 12:31 PM Sure you did, LOL!
Kazza 02-24-2004, 12:36 PM Could he or couldn't he roll his Rrrr's. I bet you can't:p
SPLAIN 02-24-2004, 01:57 PM I dun't know if i understand you correctly, but to us, there is nothing worse than hearing an English person roll their R's when speaking French, it emphasizes their accent! I did love his Irish brogue though in that barbershop quartet, although Bill didn't. The look on Bill's face when he hears Ricky singing with the Irish accent is priceless!

Well, Desi wasn't English and never spoke French.Even though he said he had Irish descent on him with just a little BIT of Cuban
SPLAIN 02-24-2004, 02:12 PM If he had Irish descendents, that was some commute they had! Didn't he say a few French words while in Paris, or dueling with that Frenchman?

With the Frenchman while Lucy was in jail there was a German translator,a French and a Spanish. So funny! With the duel guy it was all 'ANGLAIS"..but probably he said a OUI here and there sometime:lol:
SPLAIN 02-24-2004, 02:36 PM Well, that's a start!
Kazza 02-24-2004, 02:43 PM The French guy's English was worse than Ricky with a bad accent:lol:
SPLAIN 02-24-2004, 02:51 PM Whatever happened to Jean Valjean Raymond anyway? Heart desease brought on by all that cholesterol rich French food?

Probably! Death by duel pistol would've been less painful and even faster:lol:
SPLAIN 02-24-2004, 03:16 PM I dunno, if you asked some people facing a firing squad, they might prefer the chocolate cheesecake death to the bullets!

Death by chocolate is too slow; besides he didnt looked like a chocaholic anonymous type of guy:lol:
SPLAIN 02-24-2004, 03:29 PM He was a streotypical Frenchman all right, but boy, could he hold on to the side of a building!

Maybe he had some French spinach; couldn't had been the Vita:D
SPLAIN 02-24-2004, 03:33 PM Maybe it was the wine? And after holding on too long it was the whine!

The California wine on the French cafe??
SPLAIN 02-24-2004, 03:42 PM Did you know that THAT was a famous BLOOPER? It was after they saw the show that they reealized that they had used California wine and back then, they said in New York, they wouldn't have had those.

Bad propman, maybe he was drinking the one that was supposed to be on the table in the first place:lol:
SPLAIN 02-24-2004, 03:53 PM No, everything was NO FRILLS back then, so the prop man had gotten California wine for the scene and never even thought that they were supposed to live in New York. Wasn't there a great story about the prop man in Desi's book? That these people were asking who did this on the show, and he answered Lou, and then they said what if this happens, and he answred Lou would take care of it and so on for hours, so finally, these people who wanted to know the reason behind the success of the show just said, ok we get it now, all we have to do to duplicate it is hire this Lou character!

Yeah, I noticed that too. You're very observant 1lucyfan. I think he does that alot when he sings. :p
x1LucyFanx 02-24-2004, 10:08 PM Thanx Lodee. *;)* And who ever asked "When did they do it, I didn't see it...watch as begins singing and he looks back to the right {it looks like he is looking at the harp (or the lady in front of the harp  )} then he turns and looks back to the left and when he faces forward again he swings out his tongue. You might have to put it in slow motion to catch it.
MagsLovesLucy 02-24-2004, 10:32 PM Great observation--I'll have to look more closely the next time I watch that episode. :)
SPLAIN 02-25-2004, 10:19 AM I know, how on earth do they notice all these things?

Desi also had a twitch in his eyes sometimes; probably it transfered to his tongue there :D
SPLAIN 02-25-2004, 02:09 PM the eye bone connected to the tongue bone . . .
Kazza 02-25-2004, 02:18 PM Do you think if this was natural or he was just pretending?
Lodee 02-25-2004, 02:49 PM I think it was just an odd habit he had. I've noticed that eye twitch thing too. That I don't think he could help. My eye has done that before. It feels weird!
SPLAIN 02-25-2004, 02:58 PM AND ALL THIS TIME I THOUGHT YOU WERE FLIRTING WITH ME WITH THAT BATTING THE EYE LASH THING!
Lodee 02-25-2004, 03:07 PM Well I must be pretty good if it works over the internet!;) (see, there it goes again)
SPLAIN 02-25-2004, 03:11 PM You just don't know how desperate i am, that's all! I mean, i'm flirting with a Republican, how desperate is that? LOL!
