I broke my right collarbone when I was in 3rd grade - I don't even remember the accident, because I had blacked out by that point (it was a freak sledding accident in November '93).
I really hope the ankle heals quickly! :)
*Pleasant Tomorrow* 02-23-2004, 09:56 PM Aw, I'm sorry. :( Hope it gets better soon! :)
Jenya 02-23-2004, 09:58 PM You and Chris should both go to a movie tonight. ;)
Hope you feel better soon. :)
phoebe7165 02-23-2004, 10:31 PM Nannyfine, I am so sorry! I kind of know how you feel, I broke my wrist last summer. I didn't think the pain would ever stop! Praying for you for a quick recovery.

I'm upset that I won't be able to do my 3 mile walk each morning. I can deal with the pain (thanks Vicadin! ) and it's only a mild inconvenience being in a cast (I'm good as long as it's a walking cast for work, I can do my job sitting if I have to) but it SUCKS that walking in the mornings is a big part of my life, I've done so well with losing weight and now I'm going to be not walking for 6 long weeks :( THAT depresses me more than anything. :(
Rhiannon 02-23-2004, 10:32 PM That sucks. At least you can use your computer! ;)

I broke my wrist when i was 9 years old. I barely remember that, it was a long time ago.
This sucker hurts! My ankle is the size of a fist, I swear. Lemme see if I can take a digital of it :)
Nanny Fine 02-23-2004, 10:39 PM ew it's gross.
They are going to cast it tomorrow.
Look how big it is!!!!!!!!!!
(and this will teach me to NOT skip a day of shaving my legs  )

and I can still run my VCR's :) I'm still going to work, it will just be a bit more difficult than normal :)
SBTB Geek 02-23-2004, 10:40 PM I have real bad shoulder pain right now, but I'm doing my best to hide it from my parents- they will force to go to a doctor if they notice, and etc., I don't want to go through all the trouble. :o
The pain has been on and off since last July when a jet ski (I was riding) flipped and struck me.

I work with athetes and chronic pain like that, especially after an accident, needs to be checked! You will only be worse off in the end if you dont get it looked at. That's the mom in me talking. The "normal" person in me says I hate doctors too :)
Tuesday Weld 02-23-2004, 10:43 PM I can imagine how painful that must be. :( I hope it gets better very soon.

It looks bad doesn't it? It's all bruised and black and blue across the bottom of my foot and around the underside of my ankle where the talus bone (which is what is broke) is. That picture doesn't show the half of it.
I was standing on a 4 inch mat at work and someone said something to me, I turned around to her and when I turned around my ankle rolled half way off that mat. I went down fast. I yelled SON OF A........and remembered that there were 40 kids running around and I said "GUN!" My best friend/boss said she was laughing because she knows I swear and she was impressed I didn't say anything worse than that!
It took me 2 hours before I'd go to the ER too. I didnt' want to go.

I'm sitting here, shaking my head...This is CRAZY. I'm just glad you didn't get hurt any worse than that!

Yeah, my conscience tells me I should get it checked, but I always convince myself that it's just simple muscle pain.

Ima thinking a break is about as bad as that can get, right?
This happened last year at the same time too, same ankle. Only the ortho doc they sent me too gave me an air cast and said "when you can walk on it it's better". They didn't cast it or anything. So my ankle was weak and probably never healed from the last time I tore the ligaments. the ER doc said it was inevitable that this happened if it didn't heal right last time.

Well I'm on my way out right now to go to the orthopedist and get my cast. Hopefully it goes well. I had a rough night, didn't sleep well and had to get up twice to take the pain medicine they gave me.
Someone I know had this same break, the talus, and they said it was a good 3 weeks before the pain even remotely subsided enough to handle it without medication. That's not very comforting. :(
Will let you know tonight how it goes, I have to work when I'm done at the doc.
Pitooey 02-24-2004, 09:57 AM I hope you get better real soon.

OUCH!! I'm hoping for the best for you...You've had so much bad stuff happen to you in the last few months. :bighug:
tanquant 02-24-2004, 02:58 PM I'm so sorry to read about your ankle. I hope that you feel better soon. I can't say that I know how you feel because I've never broke anything but from the looks of it they probably would have had to knock me out because I can't take the pain from a toothache :bighug:
FEEL BETTER SOON
KerriBerri687 02-24-2004, 04:07 PM aw im sorry about your ankle!!!!! i hope you feel better soon:)
Bang A Gong 02-24-2004, 05:49 PM Oh wow, that's horrible. I hope your ankle heals quickly. Feel better and take care of yourself. :)

Tear your ligaments in your ankle and break a bone and then let me know.
WTF?
Nanny Fine 02-24-2004, 09:50 PM Well they casted my ankle at the ortho today. All the way up to my knee!!!!! I'm in the cast for 6 weeks. Thursday they are going to build the heel up a bit so that I can walk on it a little better without crutches but they dont want me walking on it at all until then so they made it so that I can't.
When they take it off I have to wear an air cast and go through physical therapy. going to be a long haul I guess. :(

Sorry to hear about your ankle :( I hope you feel better and doing your 3 mile walks in no time. :)
EricIdlefan 02-25-2004, 01:56 AM I know what it is like to break a body part. I once broke my foot when I was seven but remember it well and it hurt so, so, bad and I had to walk three months about with a cast. Also I twisted my ankle twice dancing. Get well and better soon and fast!!

Three months?! You must've broken it pretty good! I knew somebody when I was in school that had to wear a cast for three months, too...She broke her right wrist horseback riding, and the bone broke the surface of the skin. She's OK now though...that was in 1999 or 2000.
Kay Scarpetta 02-25-2004, 06:15 PM Ah, I'm sorry! :( My sister just broke, dislocated, and chipped her elbow bone 2 weeks ago. She's now in a cast with a 25% chance of surgery afterwards.
I almost broke my arm last week. Long story, but I ended up sliding down the side of a mountain narrowly avoiding trees, and then proceeded to fly off of a 30 foot cliff. I was in the air and put my arm out in front of me, only to realize if I landed on it I'd be in trouble... so I ended up landing on my back. I'm lucky I didn't break my neck.
david&maddie4ever 02-25-2004, 07:34 PM Aw, that's terrible, Nanny Fine. :( Luckily, I've never broken a body part, so I can't even comprehend how much that must've hurt. Hope you get better soon! :D
