Thanks!! I have my tapes ready to go as soon as the series starts over!! Cannot wait!:) I hate it though that it will start at the 6:30 eastern time show instead of the 6:00. That means The Dame episode and Naomi giving birth will be separated.

I agree :( I remember, when I started taping last year, they had the Dame & Baby ones together...then the next rotation after that, they started messing up episodes together. ARGH :mad:

TBS is usually good at showing the correct epiosdes in order, except at the beginning of the series. They always want to show the Mama's Silver episode first before they show the actual first episode:mad: However, they seem to air the syndicated episodes in a good order.

IF they showed Gert Rides Again, then they would have 130 episodes (an even number so that two episodes a day would end up being perfect), but with 129, problems like splitting up the Dame and Baby episodes happen.

So, the next rotation should start at 6am since there is an odd number of episodes and they are starting at 6:30 this time.

I'm not a fan of these episodes, but I'm taping them so I can have the entire series. I have 13 of season 4, 22 of season 5 and 17 from season 6 if I don't miss any more (I taped over 1, and missed 2). So at this rate, I'll have the whole series by the time "Mama Fights Back" airs in this rotation.

I agree. I like the syndicated episodes so much better. There are some good NBC episodes though. I don't like how Vinton is a little mean and Mama is so uptight all the time in these episodes.

I think if y'all would think about how realistic the NBC shows are, ya might appreciate/like 'em more (if ya don't like 'em much, that is).

Or maybe ya have to know people like the characters...I do, so it's really easy for me to see the realism depicted in the characters...just like in "The Carol Burnett Show"'s "Family" sketches---no wonder it took the writers 5 or 6 weeks to write one "Family" sketch, they were BRILLIANTLY realistic---dead-on! :D

I didn't mean to say that I didn't like the NBC years, because I record them and watch them just like the syndicated. I just like the syndicated better. However, there are some very good NBC episodes. "Rashomama" is very funny and is one of my favorite NBC episodes too along with all the episodes with Ellen and/or Eunice. I just hate the ones that focus on Buzz and/or Sonya. Ick! :)

Lol. Well, Buzz was just kinda "there" 99% of the time, but I actually get interested in Sonja's character. She did well in the homecomin' episode, and wow, what a makover she got later on! :eek: lol

I really hated the episode about the 40s Dance at the old gym. I don't even watch that one when it comes on. That was probably my least favorite episode out of all 130.

Not quite - if you watch the ending credits, you will see that Ken Berry did the choreographing (I totally butchered that word, lol) for that episode. I know he did the choreography for a few other episodes ("Grandma USA", "Mama's Girls" to name a few), as well.

DAng...I was relabeling my Vicki Lawrence tapes yesterday (I have 16 of them...about 13 are in SLP format), and I just realized that all along, I've been missing the "Mama Sees Red" episode!!! ARGH!!! I THOUGHT I had them all. Guess not. :o

It is a lot of fun relabeling and looking through your tapes, isn't it? I remember how much fun it was making my Family Ties tape collection. I even have what I call a "directory" that tells every epiosode, the tape number it is on, and the location. Now I am doing Mama's Family.

You, Miss Vicki, ordained Mama's Family Queen doesn't have every episode??!!! :) Well, atleast you caught it now, rather than later when they eventually stop showing Mama. I plan to get every episode, except Gert Rides Again (because I can't):(

Those are some great ideas on how to label tapes. I think that is what I will do for mine. It will be much better than just having an episode number on the tape.:)

You write episode titles and stuff? I just write "Season __" and then if the season takes up more than one tape, I write "Season __ (continued)"

I get so upset sometimes when I totally miss episodes. Probably because I haven't gotten a full season yet.

And, how can you even fit all that information on a little piece of paper anyway?

Yep, I write episode titles and stuff. I don't need to write "Mama's Family" -- "Episode name" because I can remember them anyway.

Ahhh, but I said I used 4x6 index cards. They're bigger than you think -- and I can fit more than enough. One line denotes 1/2 hour of programming...I used 12 lines total, so that's a total of 6 hours of programming on my tapes that I labeled. Here's an example of what one of my index cards looks like.

That is a great way to label them. I find it funny though that instead of the title being "Mama's Family" your title is "Vicki Lawrence #?" :)

I was just planning to label them by episode number (i.e. Episodes 1-16) But I like this way much better.

Yeah...It's "Vicki Lawrence #__" because I have a ton of tapes with programming that she appeared on...Between "Gift Horse" and "A Big Hand for Mama", I have the Vicki Intimate Portrait on there. ;)

Yep, they do -- perfectly! So, I usually just "laminate" (with clear packing tape) the index card to the sleeve so I can see what's on it without taking the index card out of the sleeve. Works for me.

I was watching the episode today about Vint marrying the Portugese girl. Well, there was a slip up (blooper)there. She couldn't speak English so Buzz spoke to her in Spanish and she understood him. Well, unless she learned Spanish she would not have understood him. Portugese is an entirely different language!:crazy:

The order is so wierd... it started with the silver episode (has to be one of my least favorites), then went to the illegal immigration episode, then to Fran's Dress, then to the REAL first episode, then to Wedding Part I...

I taped the first run of the series on TBS in 1997 & I believe that's the only time they aired the episodes in order, starting with "Vint and the Kids Move In." Ever since then, they've been screwy with the first 10 or so episodes. They really should air the the weddings episodes together. I'm enjoying the NBC episodes though, since I like them better than the syndicated ones.

Yes I do. TBS did indeed air "Gert Rides Again" during at least its first two runs of Mama in 1997 & '98. I have "Gert Rides Again" on two different tapes, I taped it off my local ABC affiliate in 1992 & off TBS in '97. I do remember seeing "Gert Rides Again" at least 2 times on TBS, but not after that. Why they stoppes airing that episodes is still a mystery to me.

Somehow I missed that episode! Figures, the only episode that is never shown anymore and I don't have it! Now that they are starting over again maybe I will get lucky and they will show Gert!:)

It has been a really long time since I saw Gert Rides Again, it has been a very long time since they showed it. I am currently working on my Mama collection, so I am especially annoyed with the order of these episodes. I really wish I could get Gert Rides Again too.

I just noticed that season 2 is aired on TBS out of order too. The reason that seasons 3-6 are aired in order on TBS is because TBS goes by p-codes and 3-6 have the p-codes in perfect order while 1-2 have p-codes all over the place.

production code. Look at epguides.com/mamasfamily. The production codes for seasons 1 and 2 are in a different order than how they originally aired. TBS airs them by production code.

Well apparently Zanaida (sp) is multi-lingual. She does say "cocina" which is Spanish for kitchen, and then she uses the Italian "ciao" to say farewell---she may be a genius for all we know! lol :p

Good pick you up guys for noticing Spanish being spoken instead of Portuguese!

In Portuguese, "My house is your house" would be "minha casa é sua casa." In Spanish Buzz said, "Mi casa es su casa." --not terribly different, maybe Zinada could figure it out. (Of course, I'm just trying to make since of it--in reality, the writers diffinately goofed making it look like Spanish is the spoken language in Portugal.)

In Portuguese "kitchen" is "cozinha" instead of "cocina."

"ciao" was also diffinately silly for her to say since we all associate it with Italian. I think a bunch of European countries say it though. In French class and German class we had to learn it as one common way to say "bye." Both languages spelled them differently.

Anyway, that's your unwanted language lesson for the day! :crazy:

I just got a Tivo-like thing and it is extremely cool. It has up to 100 hours on the hard drive which is more than enough for every Mama's Family episode in perfect digital quality. Anyway, its pretty cool...
