Whoopi Goldberg's 1996 film comedy "The Associate" features Tim Daly in a real change of pace role....

Instead of playing the honest, "Gee Whiz" Joe Hackett-type of character, Tim is the "villain" of the film....a sleazy, back-stabbing corporate co-worker of Whoopi's, and you really HATE the guy throughout the film!

It just amazes me how Tim Daly and Steven Weber are constantly surprising us with various roles which are "against type". In one film or TV show they're making us laugh and root for them, and the next appearance has us hating their GUTS and wanting to see them go down in flames!

Both Tim and Steven remind of the great Jack Lemmon....In one film Lemmon would have you splitting your sides with laughter, and in the next film he would give you a serious, powerful, gut-wrenching performance with NO humor whatsoever....but BOTH "Lemmons" were equally effective and entertaining.

I think that Tim and Steven are carrying on the fine "Jack Lemmon" tradition of versatile acting.

Talking about Tim, this shows was a great and versatile actor this man is. He was also in "Object of my Affection" with Jennifer Aniston, and correct me if I'm wrong because it's been awhile since I've seen the movie, but he plays Jen's boyfriend and gets her pregnant. I remember he played a real jerk, not so much a villian, but just total opposite from the Joe Hackett we know and love.

We've all have talked before about how the cast of Wings really hasn't been working too much since the end of Wings. I was looking at Tim's credits on the Internet Movie Database, and he really has done quite a bit over the years(including a appearance on 'Judging Amy' last year, which I didn't know about and missed. Gee, wonder how he got on THAT show!;).) I've been on the lookout for him anywhere, I guess I haven't been looking hard enough. This year he is directing AND producing a movie called Bereft.

hi, phoebe!
Actually, yeah, he was in that movie, but he played the boyfriend of the gay guy that Jennifer Aniston's character fell in love with. ;)
But you were right about his character being a jerk in that movie.

and I've never seen "The Associate", but I've wanted to, because Tim is in it.
and you're right, pilotguy. Tim is actually a very versatile actor. I like how he can play so many contrasting roles.
