swedeace 02-21-2004, 04:43 AM Anyone out there love the Swedish pop group Ace of Base? Post here if you love them, like them, or like their music! What are your favorite songs? What is your favorite album?
Their European stuff is a lot better, by the way!! ;)
Kristina 02-21-2004, 05:20 AM I like "The Sign".
Mijada 02-21-2004, 01:28 PM The only CD of theirs that I have is The Sign. I love it. I just took it out and realized it is already 10 years old. Time sure goes by fast.
swedeace 02-21-2004, 02:05 PM Yes, "The Sign" song is nearing its ten-year mark this month!!! Wow!! It is simply a classic. I'm a HUGE Ace of Base fan, and after so long and so many albums, remixes, singles, B-sides, etc, from around the world, I still think the song "The Sign" still holds for its classic, specialness. :) But I would say I have to credit their third U.S. single, Don't Turn Around, that got me hooked into an AOB fan. :D
Here are a couple of their latest songs:

These above come from their latest European-released album entitled "Da Capo." Here is the cover:
fr00ti 02-21-2004, 02:26 PM I liked them about 6 or 7 years ago. Me and my friend Jessica used to dance to her Ace Of Base tape.
swedeace 02-21-2004, 02:38 PM Cool.... Keep up the cool Ace of Base memories!! I love reading them!!
Czas na Zywiec 02-21-2004, 03:50 PM Oh wow, it's been so long since I've listened to Ace of Base. I went through a two-month phase about two years ago, but before that, I haven't listened to them for years. My favorite song is "It's a Beautiful Life."
Dean Winchester 02-21-2004, 04:31 PM consider me out.
I love Ace Of Base, I don't care how cheesy they are. Would rather have them than any of the pop-punk or hip hop garbage on the chart right now.

Dean Winchester 02-21-2004, 05:03 PM my fave AOB cd is The Bridge. A shame it didn't duplicate The Sign's success in the US. Never Gonna Say I'm Sorry is my favorite Ace Of Base song
¤I Love Clay Aiken¤ 02-21-2004, 05:28 PM The Sign.

Ditto to that.
My favorite song is "All That She Wants". My tape proudly holds a spot amongst all my CDs to this day :o

Just to let you know, Ace of Base still exist (yes, they're not dead or something..) and their last album was in late of 2002.
It gor relased only in Scandinavia, some countries in europe, Israel, and in the far east.

swedeace 03-01-2004, 12:30 AM Happy Leap Year, everyone!!
I Saw the Sign Ten Years Ago
February/March 1994: I am sitting right here in February 2004 trying to remember which was first: me listening to TS on the radio or watching TS video on TV. I can't recall exactly which came first. I guess I can relate this with the theory of "Which came first? The chicken or the egg?." I truly believe I first head it on the radio during art class. I was a sophomore and taking art/drawing class where our instructor had a radio, so we were allowed to listen to music while working on our artwork. One day, someone had 97.3 KISS FM (the same way where I heard ATSW just aired five months earlier!), and I didn't really think much about it at the time until hours later when I'd go into my Biology class and some of the beats stuck into my head. They just wouldn't get out!! I really don't know music nor can I describe it well sometimes, so I have created a mini .mp3 clip of what was stuck in my head for weeks on end.
Take a listen.....
http://w3.tvi.edu/~florlinn/audio/ts10yrani_memoryclip.mp3
That little piano/snyth clip is what kept getting stopped and being played on constant repeat in my head while in Biology while cutting up those little froggies.... ewww.... gross! :p But anyway, you get the point of what was playing over and over and over during those weeks. ;)
It wasn't long enough where I was living in a temporary apartment, and one cloudy day where it was about to rain (funny how I remember this so well!), and I had MTV turned on! The Sign video came on. I recognized the beats, and I was in the kitchen making some lunch, and I was looking at the TV from the living room thinking to myself, "Oh, okay, so this 'Ace of Base' is not an artist but two girls. Okay!" From the ATSW video I first saw December 1993, I thought that blond girl upfront (who I know now as Linn) thinking she was the artist 'Ace of Base.' Then, for The Sign video, most of who's shown upfront is Linn and Jenny! Funny how I used to think that!!! ;) :D
I remember vividly thinking the video was interesting because of its fast-paced flying colors and quick scene-shifting effects! ;)
That's basically my story..... Nothing else fancy or other AOB findings as I still wasn't a huge AOB fan yet! "The Sign" isn't the Ace of Base song that made me a huge fan. It was "Don't Turn Around," but you will have to wait until May 2004 to read about DTA and mid-June 2004 to read my fan story on that and soon thereafter, in August, will be the album!
Oh, and by the way, I was at Hastings Music earlier today browsing through the database, and I found that TS single and maxi were both released in the U.S. on March 1, 1994!! That's tomorrow!!! Wow!!! :)
Just thought I'd share.... tomorrow is the official released date of The Sign single!!!!
