Mr. Deeds Goes To Town aired from September 1969 until January 1970 on ABC.
Longfellow Deeds ( Monte Markham), a young newspaper editor in the small town of Mandrake Falls, suddenly inherited the multimillion-dollar corporation founded by his uncle, the unscrupolous Alonzo P. Deeds. Young Mr. Deeds promptly moved to New York to take over the corporation, and use the money to right the wrongs his uncle had perpetrated. His country naivete and extreme honesty almost brought him down in the cutthroat world of big business. Tony Lawrence ( Pat Harrington Jr) was Uncle Alonzo's former public-relations man who became Longfellow Deed's best friend and confidante, George ( Ivor Barry) was the butler, and Mr. Masterson ( Herb Voland) was the continually infuriated chairman of the board of Deeds Enterprises.
Based rather loosely on the 1936 Gary Cooper movie of the same name.
