Pearson Norby ( David Wayne) was vice-president in charge of small loans at the Pearl River First National Bank, in Pearl River, a small town in upstate New York. He lived there with his wife Helen ( Joan Lorring), and his 2 children, Diane and Hank ( Susan Hallaran, Evan Elliott). The problems Pearson had on the job and situations involving his wife and his children were subjects for episodes. Featured were 3 of the bank's employees, president Maud Endles ( Carole Veazie), vice-president and efficiency expert Mr. Rudge ( Ralph Dunn), and switchboard operator Wahleen Johnson ( Janice Mars). Bobo and Maureen ( Jack Warden, Maxine Stuart) were their next door neighbors.
Created by David Swift, the series was the first television show to be filmed in color and was appropriately , sponsored by the Eastman Kodak Company, and exteriors were actually shot in Pearl Harbor, New York. The show's time slot ( Wednesdays at 7 pm, a slot which relatively few network affiliates made available for network broadcasts) was probably the chief factor behind it's early cancellation.
