Dear Phoebe aired from September 1954 until September 1955 on NBC.
In this comedy, a college instructor gave up teaching to become the writer of the advice-to-the-lovelorn column in the Los Angeles Daily Blade. Bill Hastings ( Peter Lawford), who wrote under the name Phoebe Goodheart, had a lovelorn admirer of his own in the person of the paper's female sportswriter, Mickey Riley ( Marcia Henderson). Mickey tried to hide her affection by being extremely competitive with Bill for choice assignments from Mr. Fosdick ( Charles Lane), the flinty old managing editor. Bill made no secret of his love for Mickey, however, and many of the episodes developed around their rocky romance. Hunphrey Humpsteader ( Joe Corey), was the typical copyboy trying to make it in the newspaper game.
