A Date With Judy aired from June 1951 until February 1952 and then from July 1952 until September 1953 on NBC.

The trials and tribulations of a hyperactive bobby-soxer and her harassed parents were the subject of this live situation comedy. A Date With Judy began on radio in 1941, was made into a movie in 1948 ( with Elizabeth Taylor), and twice came to television.

The 1951 version featured Patricia Crowley ( who later starred in Please Don't Eat The Daisies), as Judy Foster, all-american teenager.In addition to Judy and her sedate parents, Melvyn and Dora ( Gene O'Donnell, Anna Lee), the characters included her pesky younger brother Randolph (Judson Reese), and her boyfriend Oogie( Jimmie Sommers).

First seen as a Saturday daytime series, A Date With Judy changed casts and moved to prime-time in July 1952. The new cast featured Mary Linn Beller as Judy; John Gibson as Melvyn; Flora Campbell as Dora; Peter Avramo as Randolph; and Jimmy Sommers ( the only cast member retained), as Oogie.

Both versions of the half-hour sitcom were produced and written by Aleen Leslie.

A Date with Judy (Sat. 11:30 a.m., ABC-TV) transforms another just-folks radio family into a daytime TV show. The Fosters come equipped with a whimsical father, a lovable but levelheaded Mom, and a lackwit, adolescent son, all working as background for daughter Judy (Pat Crowley). The plot throws Judy in love with an oaf named Oogie, supplies her with boundless opportunities to pout, indulge in temper tantrums and end nearly every scene in a drugstore, where a finger-pointing clerk urges viewers to stock up on Sponsor McKesson & Robbins' products.

PITOFSKY-Mary Linn (nee Beller) on April 13, 2000 at Greenwich Hospital, after a long and valiant fight with cancer. Loving wife of Robert L. Pitofsky, daughter of Helen and the late Samuel Beller. Mary Linn was a professional actress who appeared in TV's first soap opera, ''The First Hundred Years,'' and starred as Judy in the situation comedy, ''A Date with Judy,'' the ''Brighter Day'' soap opera and many of the major network's dramatic shows of early television. She also appeared on Broadway and in numerous TV commercials. Most recently she worked in Real Estate at Julia B. Fee, Scarsdale. On September 19, 1954, she married Robert L. Pitofsky. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three loving sons, Don and his wife Mary Ann of Greenwich, CT, Bill and his wife Karen of Scarsdale and Jim of San Francisco and her adoring grandchildren, Lee Andrew of Greenwich, CT and Caitlin and Caroline of Scarsdale and her mother, Helen Beller, of NYC. Visitation will be Saturday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at Zion Memorial Chapel, 785 East Boston Post Road, Mamaroneck, NY (914-381-1809). Services will be held at Zion Memorial on Sunday at 10 AM followed by interment at Ferncliff Cemetery.
