Big Brother Jake aired on the Family Channel from September 1990 until 1994 and produced 100 episodes.
This sunny sitcom was set in an interracial foster home in Brooklyn, NY. At the center of things was Jake ( Jake Steinfeld), a beefy former Hollywood stuntman who had returned to the home in which he was raised to help his foster "mom," a sweet black woman named Connie ( Barbara Meek), raise her next generation of foster kids. She certainly needed the help. Her husband Isaac, had passed away, and there were kid problems everywhere. Her charges were Lou ( Josiah Trager), a chubby teenager, Kateri ( Gabrielle Carmouche), a bright, studious young black girl, Jill (Elizabeth Narvaez), an older, boy-obsessed teen; and Andy and Dave ( Jeremy Wieand, Daniel Hilfer), pre-teen terrors who looked like twins but were not in fact related. After 2 seasons grownup Jill left and was replaced by Caroline ( Rachelle Guzy), a little abandoned Oriental girl.
Gary ( Ben Siegler), was Jake's amiable pal from High School, now a Manhattan lawyer, and Jane ( Melody Combs), was Jake's former High School girlfriend. Miss Morgan ( Denise Devin), was the original social worker, replaced in year two by the dreaded and cranky Miss Domedian (Jane Connell). The older kids attended Frederick Douglas High School. Jake narrated.
