The Brothers aired from October 1956 until March 1957 on CBS.
CBS had high hopes for this situation comedy which went nowhere. It revolved around Harvey and Gilly Box ( Gale Gordon, Bob Sweeney), who owned a photography studio in San Francisco. Harvey, the older brother, was somewhat blustery and overbearing, but at heart was a good man whose bark was worse than his bite. Gilly was a shy, naiive, and in-offensive soul, who seemed happy to let his older brother run things. Both of them had girlfriends whose personalities seemed well matched to those of their men. Harvey's the strong-willed Dr. Margaret Kleeb (Ann Morriss), , and Gilly's the quiet Marilee Dorf( Nancy Hadley).Most of the episodes of The Brothers revolved around their social and personal lives , their friends and family, including their father, Capt. Sam Box ( played by Frank Orth and later by Howard McNear).
