Born in Cincinnati, singer/dancer/actress Vicki Lewis studied at the College Conservatory of Music and received her equity card carrying the train of Dixie Carter's dress in the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera production of "Mame."
A veteran of the New York stage, she appeared most recently in the Broadway revival of "Damn Yankees." A major career turning point came when James L. Brooks heard her sing and cast her in the feature film "I'll Do Anything," bringing the young actress to the West Coast.
Lewis' other television credits include a recurring role on "Home Improvement" as well as guest-starring roles on "Grace Under Fire," "Phenom," and "The Five Mrs. Buchanans." Lewis was cast in two secretarial roles before landing her spot on "NewsRadio." In the first, Lewis played secretary #69 in "Murphy Brown" -- the one who didn't write anything down because she was taking a memory course. Her second secretarial role came as George Costanza's (Jason Alexander) amorous, efficient and briefly employed secretary on NBC's "Seinfeld." She again appeared with Jason Alexander in the television musical special "Bye Bye Birdie."
On her recent hiatus she received rave reviews for her performance in "Pal Joey" at New York's City Center.
Discussing her sassy secretary role, Lewis says: "Beth is swimming upstream when all others are swimming down. She thinks she has all the answers, but she's really not in touch with anyone else's reality."
Vicki Lewis' birthday is March 17. |
