On the Rocks aired from September 1975 until May 1976 on ABC.
Based on the British comedy series, Porridge, On the Rocks was a situation comedy that revolved around the inmates of Alamesa Minimum Security Prison, a "low-risk" institution apparently run as much by the ones incarcerated there as by the authorities!
The usual setting was the cell containing: Hector Fuentes ( Jose Perez), the resourceful Latin prisoner; DeMott ( Hal Williams), his friend; Cleaver ( Rick Hurst), the eternal optimist and Nicky ( Bobby Sandler), a juvenile delinquent. In a nearby cell was Gabby ( Pat Cranshaw), a toothless, elderly inmate.
Mr. Gibson ( Mel Stewart) was the hard-nosed corrections officer whose attempts at keeping the inmates in line were often unintentionally thwarted by Mr. Sullivan ( Tom Poston), a mild-mannered guard. Wilbur Poindexter ( Logan Ramsey) was the warden.
The show was taped in front of a live audience and originally telecast immediately following TV's leading cop comedy, Barney Miller, which prompted ABC to promote the two shows together with the line "funny cops and funny robbers..."

Patrick Cranshaw, Film Actor, Dies at 86
Published: January 4, 2006
LOS ANGELES, Jan. 3 (AP) - Patrick Cranshaw, who achieved cultlike status playing the fraternity brother Blue in the 2003 film comedy "Old School," died on Wednesday at his home in Fort Worth. He was 86.
.
He died of natural causes, his personal manager, Jeff Ross, told The Los Angeles Times.
Mr. Cranshaw played dozens of other roles, including a bank teller in "Bonnie and Clyde" and a demolition derby owner in "Herbie: Fully Loaded."
But he was probably best known for his role as an elderly frat boy, Joseph (Blue) Palasky in "Old School," which starred Luke Wilson, Will Ferrell and Vince Vaughn.
In that hit comedy, he is about to wrestle two topless girls but dies of an apparent heart attack from over-excitement. After singing "Dust in the Wind" at Blue's funeral, Mr. Ferrell's character calls out in agony: "You're my boy, Blue!"
Fans would yell the signature line whenever they saw the actor and erected Web sites paying homage to his "Old School" character.
Mr. Cranshaw was born in Bartlesville, Okla., in 1919 and became interested in acting while entertaining American troops before World War II.
He is survived by three children, Jan Ragland, Joe Cranshaw and Beverly Trautschold; his sister, Billie Vi Gillespie; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
