George Burns Comedy Week aired from September until December 1985 on CBS.
Veteran funnyman George Burns became the oldest person ever to host a television show when he agreed to emcee this half-hour comedy anthology series; he turned 90 less than a month after the program's cancellation.Among the more familiar names appearing on this program were Joe Piscopo, Robert Klein, Martin Mull, Don Rickles, Don Knotts, Fannie Flag, Candy Clark, Howard Hesseman, Laraine Newman, James Whitmore, Roddy McDowall, and Samantha Eggar. One of the programs, "The Couch." directed by Steve Martin and starring Harvey Korman and Valerie Perrine ( with Carrie Fisher and Bronson Pinchot in smaller roles), so impressed network executives at a screening that they ordered a series based on it called Leo & Liz in Beverly Hills. It premiered four months after George Burns Comedy Week left the air.
