I am angry at our society. Janet Jackson made a mistake, she appologied. What more do you want from her? This society is suppose to be a forgiven society. The parents need to look themselfs in the mirror. It is not Janet Jackson job to parent your kids. And to all of the Joe Starsburgh of the world, you can go to hell. She didn't hurt anybody, unlike your hero George W. Bush, who sent americans under false pretensous to die in Iraq.

CBS, NFL, and Justin Timberlake need to take responsibilty as well. Especially Timberlake.

The people that refuse to take blame, and the hyppocrits need to reevaluate themselfs.

This is overblown, and we need to move on.

if the media would not "forgive" Madonna (whose album got ZERO radio airplay due to a blacklisting over the American Life video, even tho she pulled the video, radio didn't consider that good enough) and The Dixie Chicks (Natalie Maines even apologized for everything, but still, white trash all over the nation made sure that radio would not play Dixie Chicks and their album dropped off the chart), I don't see why they should forgive Janet.

Maybe because the Madonna and Dixie Chicks situations were seen by patriotic Americans as possibly anti-American sentiments during a sensitive time. All Janet did was have her breast bared during half-time of a Super Bowl. There's nothing there to "forgive". Anyone looking to an NFL game for morality is looking in the wrong place.

I disagree with you about Madonna. The media moved on from the controversy "American Life" video. It got no radio airplay, because the song and whole album was awful. And I have been a fan of Madonna fan since "Like a Virgin", and most Madonna fans I speak to, admit that album was her worst album ever.

Janet Jackson carrer inges on the quality of her new album. If it is good, people will buy it. That is the way our society is in entertainment. We forgive if your work is good. That is not only the music industry, but also in the movies, TV, and Sports.

Right now Janet's new single is the most requested song on New York radio stations.

Madonna's last album was boycotted on radio because of a video in which she had sense to pull before it even aired, but all the "I was born to boycott" people made sure the album suffered as a result.

If the media couldn't forgive "anti-war" celebrities such as Madonna, Dixie Chicks and Susan Sarandon, why should they forgive Janet, when I think showing your tit on national television is more offensive than merely speaking your mind about something, even if someone might take offense. Janet knew she was taking a risk by showing her breast on national tv, people like Dixie Chicks and Madonna didn't realize people would turn on them for using godgiven freedom of speech.

that is true, but it seemed like what Janet did was more "knowing" she'd get in trouble. Madonna and Natalie Maines on the other hand probably didn't realize at the time when they did what they did that conservative activists across the nation were going to condemn them. Janet knew by doing this, it would get attention, tho I don't think she expected it to be as negative as it became.

I do think that people make too big a deal tho. A tit is a tit. It's sad that media has already forgiven Justin over it, while Janet is being treated like a jezebel in the media. My opinion of Janet has not changed since this incident, I've always liked her music and thought she has a lot of positive messages in her song, but the way Justin has baby-cried "this was such a great year for me, why is this happening??" cost me whatever respect I once had for him.

American Life got zero airplay because most of it sucked, do not blame it on blacklisting, in actuality most people took her side. The boycotting of the Dixie Chicks was only successful for about a week, the album later on did a rebound and continued to sell. Home was actually one of 2002's best selling albums.

Home fell off the Billboard top 200 after only 57 weeks, both Fly and Wide Open Spaces spent 2+ years on the chart. Also their popularity on the catalogue chart has dropped considerable. Fly and WOS were always in the top 3 of the "Country Catalog" sellers, and usually in the top 20 Pop Catalog as well before the Bush comment. Whereas on last week's Billboard, Fly was #17 and WOS was #20 on the Country Catalog chart, neither scanning enough to make the Pop Catalog chart. It really did hurt their sales a lot and it seems like they lost a lot of clout over it.

People are claming that Janet is getting all of the heat while Justin is getting a free pass is about race. Wrong, it is about gender. Women are held to higher standard.

Men that act in sexual ways are viewed as studs, while women are viewed as sluts.

I hope Justin is booed at the Grammy's or any future public apperance for his behavior since the Supebowl.

in 10 years, AL will finally get the recognition it deserves. I remember when Erotica came out everyone thought it was the worst album ever, yet now it is commonly regarded as one of Madonna's best once the Sex book had been far enough in the past that people actually finally put the album on and listened to it and not held the era against her. Most people who say the album sucks never actually heard the thing.

90% of the music on the chart right now is crap. Outkast, No Doubt and Alicia Keys are the only songs in the top 10 that are worth a damn IMO. If anything, "sucks" is probably the best way to boost an album nowadays. So you can't say the album flopped because it was bad, because apparently it wasn't BAD ENOUGH considering some of the horror that is on the chart now.

I still don't think that Home's sales were greatly affected by their comments. I agree, "Nothing Fails" and "Love Profusion" are CLEARLY the best tracks from American Life, but there is no way they could of become hits, they weren't released to radio.

actually, Nothing Fails was released to radio back in November or so, and a maxisingle came out a few weeks later. Love Profusion was just released to radio a week or two back and it too is coming out as a maxisingle in about 3 weeks. But if Nothing Fails couldn't get more than 50 spins across the entire nation in it's peak week, I don't think Love Profusion is going to be any more successful.

But it isn't the publicity/attention he was looking for, he is getting nothing but negative press. Although Janet's new single is doing great, his album is continuing to go down the drains (after a great run, respectively.) Even fellow celebrities are going against him, I was watching all those gossip shows ("Access Hollywood," "Entertainment Tonight," "Good Day Live," etc.,) and no one had one good thing to say about him. Jamie Foxx straight out called him a sissy.
