Exactly. The Roper's 25th Anniversary is this March? You want them honoring that too?

The shows you mentioned, TV Land does NOT have the rights to. It's not easy as you think to name shows and expect them to do a tribute. It costs extra money if you just "borrow" it without having a contract. TV One is the one who should do a Good Times marathon, they are the ones who have the rights to the show.

And TV Land didn't do a Happy Days marathon for their 30th anniversary. Henry Winkler has pitched a reunion to them (I think he originally pitched it to ABC), and TV Land will air the reunion sometime this year.

It can be included in a Class of 1974 Boxset.

Well a Three's Company Boxset would make sense on that day in March. TV LAND could air the pilot of the Ropers, the Ropers episode when Larry Visits, the Ropers episode when the Trio visits and another Ropers episode. And that way i can obtain a UPGRADE of the episde when Larry visits.

Cult classic. It got more popular after it went off the air. It spawned two big screen films, numerous spinoffs, and more reunions and tell-all TV specials than I can count. That's My Mama never did. Neither did Rhoda. And Chico's popular (or at least known) by the general public more because Freddie Prinze committed suicide.

Now, just because a show is funny doesn't mean it's a success. It takes ratings to keep a show on. I never saw That's My Mama, so I really can't decide if it's funny or not. All I can say is that ABC pulled the plug on That's My Mama because its ratings were so low and were nowhere near nominated for Emmys. Of course, they probably spent a lot of money, and couldn't afford to keep it. That's my take. Most shows that last long usually have high ratings and/or Emmy winners. Anyway, TV Land should do a marathon of Happy Days and Rhoda. Both were interesting. HD was 1st once, and in the top ten 5 times. In Rhoda's case, they were 6th and 7th in the ratings the first two years, and Valerie won an Emmy for her role as Rhoda, and was nominated three more times.

I've seen "That's My Mama" and it was OK, but not all that great. I hate "Happy Days" but I'm not ashamed to say that it was/is a classic. I love "Rhoda" and even though it only lasted 5 seasons, I still say it is classic too. "Chico and the Man" was pretty good also. 1974 was just not a year of a lot of sucessful sitcom premieres. This year marks the 40th anniversaries of "Bewitched," "The Munsters," and "Gilligan's Island," and they will probably do something in commemoration for those three. It is also the 35th anniversaries of "The Brady Bunch" and "Love American Style." "The Facts of Life" and "Benson" make 25 years old each. "The Cosby Show" turns 20 this year, so NAN will go absolutely bezerk. Some years in the coming future will serve as the anniversaries of MANY shows, and if TVLand has the shows' rights, and would want to do specials, you will notice it...

For instance, in 2002, TVLand had four anniversary marathons: "Three's Company" (1977), "Soap" (1977), "The Love Boat" (1977), and "The Beverly Hillbillies" (1962). If they had the rights, they could also have done an anniversary marathon of "Eight is Enough" since it premiered in Spring 1977.

Next year, 2005, will serve as the anniversaries for several classic sitcoms, including...

"Burns and Allen" (1950, 55 years)
"The Andy Griffith Show" (1960, 45 years, I guarantee there will be a 48-hour marathon, just wait and see!)
"My Three Sons" (1960, 45 years)
"I Dream of Jeannie" (1965, 40 years)
"Green Acres" (1965, 40 years)
"Get Smart" (1965, 40 years)
"F Troop" (1965, 40 years)
"Mary Tyler Moore" (1970, 35 years)
"The Partridge Family" (1970, 35 years)
"The Odd Couple" (1970, 35 years)
"The Jeffersons" (1975, 30 years)
"One Day at a Time" (1975, 30 years)
"Welcome Back Kotter" (1975, 30 years)
"Barney Miller" (1975, 30 years)
and some other I forgot...

The shows from above that TVLand will still have in 2005 will most likely be celebrated. I can be sure that TAGS, IDOJ and GA will be celebrated since they will still be on TVLand next year. If MTM ever returns, there might be a special marathon weekend for it too.

Some 2006 anniversaries...

"I Love Lucy" (1951, 55 years) - Don't expect a blow-out since they pretty much did it all for the 50th Anniversary, but they might just replay that.
"Mister Ed" (1961, 45 years)
"The Dick Van Dyke Show" (1961, 45 years) - Same as ILL
"Hazel" (1961, 45 years)
"That Girl" (1966, 40 years)
"Family Affair" (1966, 40 years)
"All in the Family" (1971, 35 years) - If the show is still on TVLand by 2006, expect a huge weekend of AITF and possibly its spin-offs too.
"Laverne & Shirley" (1976, 30 years) - If the rights are ever reacquired, which I hope they are, they could make a nice 48-hour marathon for the show.
"Alice" (1976, 30 years) - Wouldn't expect anything at all unless a miracle occured and TVLand picked it up.
and others I can't think off...

I'd go further than that, but I think everyone knows when most shows will start making their milestone anniversaries.

Jeez, to be honest, I thought that the Andy Griffith show was already on 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on TV Land...sure seems like it, anyway...

But seriously, ladies and germs, I'd love to see some tributes to many of the shows you listed in your comment...

I miss Green Acres (set to be back in April I believe), F Troop, The Odd Couple, Family Affair, a lot of the shows that were on at the time we first got TV Land locally...

To be honest though, I hardly every watch TV Land anymore...I don't like most of the shows that are on (I can watch the first two seasons of All in the Family, I like Leave it to Beaver, some early Family Ties episodes, and Cheers, but I hate Sanford and Son, I'm tired of Andy Griffith...I like some shows in their morning lineup, although I'm never home to watch, I like the Brady Bunch, Dick Van Dyke, Mr. Ed, I Love Lucy)....

I'd like to see them bring back Hogans Heroes, Family Affair, My Three Sons, Petticoat Junction, Green Acres (coming soon), Get Smart (that didn't last long)...and I'd love to see more Burns and Allen shows, other than the 10 or so episodes that they keep running.

The other thing that I find most annoying about TV Land is that they run the same episodes of a show 2 or 3 times in a day...they'll show the same episode of All in the Family at 8:30 on Saturday as they did at 6:30...wtf??

Yeah i don't see the point of repeating episodes. I made not like N@N's editing but they don't repeat the same episodes.
