It's a shame that Three Powerful Sitcoms took a HUGE BLOW in 1980 because of Changes and Depatures of Sitcom Characters.
Three's Company-No more Chrissy Snow. Horrible Replacement
Happy Days-No more Richie Cunningham or Ralph Malph and a remodeled Arnold's I guess for the 80's.
Laverne and Shirley-Mind Boggling Moved to California.
It was clear that the year of 1980 was the BEGINNING of the END for these three Sitcoms that Controlled the last half of 70's.

None of those shows were very good in the first place. The only one of those I actually watched was Laverne and Shirley and I haven't even seen that since it was on Nick at Nite. But, I do remember seeing episodes where they're in California, and I was really annoyed and confused. Then when Shirley left, it was so pointless and dumb.
Meh, I used to like Threes Company, then I turned 7 and out grew it. I mean what difference does it make if the dumb blonde is changed? She still serves the same purpose and Susanne Somers was a bitch anyway. Anyway, I think Three's Company destroyed that line-up when every episode could have been retitled "The Great Misunderstanding."
Don't remember Happy Days much.

well, I don't think Chrissy/Cindy ruined TC as badly as thought, because the show bounced back in quality and ratingswise the next season when Terri joined. It eventually ended, but what show doesn't run it's course? I agree about Happy Days and Laverne and Shirley. HD sucked without Richie and Ralph. When HD comes out on DVD, I'll stop at season7 (1979-1980, Ron Howard's last season).

I agree. The 1980-1981 season was pretty bad for ABC's primetime line-up.
Three's Company definitely seemed a bit uneven during the first half of the season, although it got better towards the end (IMO). It most definitely improved the next season.
I'm not a big Happy Days fan, but I agree that the last four seasons weren't as good as the first seven.
I actually didn't mind the location move to California on Laverne & Shirley. It gave it some new storyline opportunities. I don't think the show was bad until the lackluster final season.
