But this one was a sinus headache...I could tell the difference...I've been almost sneezing the last few days...I feel one coming on, then when I gear up to sneeze, it doesn't come...then my head feels stuffed...So thus starts a sinus headache and then my sinuses hurting...Bah. :p

OMG.

Somebody at another board was telling me that he was in Laughlin, NV yesterday, gambling at one of the casinos there, then I told him that was where Vicki was going to be at tonight through the 31st, then he told me he was gambling at the same casino she's performing at (the Riverside casino), and that he saw the signs and everything but he saw he was a day early.

I don't know why that made me laugh, it just did.

woah. ruthie acted with kathie lee...thats scary.

NEW YORK, NY -- "Putting It Together" stars Carol Burnett, the guy who played Balkie on "Perfect Strangers," and a Tom Cruise look-alike. It has music by Stephen Sondheim. How could it go wrong?

Unfortunately, Carol Burnett was sick on the night this reviewer attended the show and her role was played by Kathie Lee Gifford of TV's Regis and Kathie Lee. Balkie (or, as he's really named, Bronson Pinchot '81) was also sick and his role was filled by the utterly uninspiring David Engel. The Tom Cruise look-alike was not sick, however, and he really did look like Tom Cruise. Unfortunately, like the real Tom Cruise, he couldn't act.

The cast is completed by George Hearn and Ruthie Henshall, two performers who stand in contrast to the others' mediocrity. Hearn is a common face in Sondheim shows, and a veteran of the music theater. His performance was effortless, and his resounding bass voice is well-suited to Sondheim's complex harmonies.

Henshall has something of a cult following in the British musical theater, and it's not hard to see why. She sounds like Liza Minelli, dances like Bebe Neuworth, and has a charming accent to top it off. She commands the stage when she's on it, and leaves one anticipating her return when she's not.

To be honest, Kathie Lee wasn't so bad. While she looked a little ridiculous dressed in a tight black cocktail dress, her voice was surprisingly good. She played her character -- an aging trophy wife -- with appealing bitter humor.

The way she played the role reminded me of the way Carol Burnett would play it -- the same wacky gestures, the same sarcastic side-glances. Kathie Lee must have studied Burnett's performance, and she did a good imitation. That's all it was, though, an imitation. It made me wish even more that I could just see the real Carol Burnett, instead of Kathie Lee playing Carol Burnett.

The dissonance between this character and Gifford's smiley TV persona was a source of humor for the audience, who laughed every time she swore. Everyone seems conscious of the fact that Kathie Lee Gifford is a joke in and of herself. But, as her bio proclaims, she is "one of the country's most popular entertainers."

The real weakness of the show is not the acting or the ridiculousness of Kathie Lee. The problem is that it tries to fit the complex songs of Stephen Sondheim into the structure of a traditional Broadway music revue. Sondheim's songs demand a context: they establish vivid characters, they abound with references. They fit perfectly into his musicals. When they are pulled from their original context and stuffed into a revue format, they seem out of place and confused.

"Putting It Together" tries to establish a sketchy plot around two rich New York couples as they sing about their problems in love and life and cavort at a cocktail party. But the songs don't fit into this plot, and the show suffers from the attempt.

Still, Sondheim's music is beautiful regardless of context, and despite the fact that many of the references are unclear, his lyrics are sharp and witty.

The lyricist's genius is what shines through in "Putting It Together" and what makes it worth the $50+ per ticket. And where else can we see Kathie Lee sing, dance

I've also been nice to all my video game consoles...my parents had a NES they originally bought for us in 1985, but after excessive usage, it broke in 1989 (I think) so we got another NES. My brother has that NES and it STILL works. I have our SNES and it's the original one that we got for Xmas in 1993, over 10 years ago now. I've also been nice and good to all the Gameboy stuff I've ever had, and to my NIntendo 64...but I haven't been so good to their controllers...I broke two. I still have three, though. ;) As for my GameCube...I've had that a year now and I've been nice to it. Gah, that's gotta be a pain in the butt.

Thanks! See, I really should've stayed out there with her because she did the same thing yesterday. Things should be fine for a while since I fixed that little spot where she crawled under.
Thats why I go out with her at night. She's a black and white dog and I can't see her in the dark. In the daytime I just look out the door at her.

 And to add on to that, my oldest cat is pretty big too- so you have to REALLY grab her if she gets away. :cuss:

Yay! I only wish we could put up a fence around the front of our yard...but that's not gonna happen. :p

Yikes! All my cats could blend in if they wanted to- esp. my oldest cat...she's white with brown spots all over, so if you're not careful, she looks like snow with a bunch of leaves on her. Then I have a super super dark DARK Siamese cat....I mean, like REALLY dark. If he hid in a closet and you tried to look for him, you would see only his eyes.

I've tripped over Lady many times in the middle of the night for the same reason. When I take her out, no matter how long she's left out there, I leave the back light on so I can find her. Not very smart to have not stayed out there with her after what happened yesterday.. but then, she didn't take off around the neighborhood.

Oh no!  And I bet she doesn't make it easy for you, either.

Maybe one day you'll be able to. If I didn't have a fenced in yard, I'd be up a creek with my dog.

 Ohhh boy.. There are a lot of squirrels around here, too. You can hear them as they land on the roof. Lady gets down real low to the ground then makes a running leap for them, AND that cat.. who enjoys nothing more than to taunt her.
