I read on the New Leave it to Beaver board that when Tony was 18, he accidently hit someone on the highway and killed them? Isn't that sad?:(

I've never heard that, but have read that Tony has suffered from clinical depression for many years & has hosted videos on the subject.

I am not up on depression, but what is the difference between clinical depression and manic?. I take it Manic is a bit more pronounced - thanks.

I think Bipolar is just another word for Manic Depression,, with huge mood swings from very up to very down,,, like Patty Duke was diagnosed with. Clinical depression sounds like being very down much of the time.

It's too bad that Tony Dow has suffered from depression. It's hard to believe because when I watch him on Leave it to Beaver, he seems to upbeat and like any average teenager. Maybe the depression hit him later on in life. Does anyone know if he's still suffering from it, or has he gotten over it? I just can't picture "Wally" depressed.

You know when I commented on the chemistry between Hugh and Barbara and wondered about their relationship behind the scenes people just said "Well it's the acting" so I guess we should just chalk it up to Tony's good acting too.

I read about that accident when it first happened. Too many years ago, but I do remember that Tony had only been driving for a very short time, was in an accident, and a man was killed. Tony was found to be innocent, and no charges were filed against him. It was reported that he took the man's death very badly, and was upset for quite a while.

Jane Pauley has bi-polar. I believe she mentioned it on her talk show recently. I also believe Jay North has it as well. Look at the talk shows he has done in the past. One minute reflects fondly about Dennis The Menace and damns it the next. Sounds like the actions of someone who has bi-polar to me.

Bi-polar is a serious illness and true there are medications out there to treat it. Sadly many people who do suffer from it do not.

The other day at work, a fellow co-worker of mine was fired due to his bi-polar disorder. One minute he was the nicest person one could met. The next minute, well.....

He stopped taking his meds ( he claimed the meds were killing his sex drive and affecting the relationship he has with his wife ). he thought he could control his moods on his own without the help of his meds.

he was wrong !!

Everyday he would come in and scream at his co-workers and customers too. Cussing, using every X rated word one can think off. Even telling another co-worker who recently lost her 14 year old son , "....look I could care less you lost your child, maybe you should lose your daughter and husband as well". Normal people don't think like that !!

Management gave him a warning to take his meds or else. He didn't and when he told another co-worker of mine ( who is openly gay ) to "..go catch AIDS". He was fired !!

He would have never done any of this had he took his meds.
