Anyone remember Hugh Beaumont's opening narration in the first season before the familiar wet cement opening credits? These openings were edited out of the TV Land episodes but still turn up in the syndicated episodes. Beaumont was also heard in some of the syndicated episodes saying "Leave it to Beaver will continue in a moment" before a commercial break.

No, I don't remember it. It has been many years since I've seen the ones in syndication. I started watching it again on TVLand.

I very vaguely remember this, when I watched the reruns on an independent station in the Seattle area in the late'70's and '80's. Didn't he sort of introduce the episode briefly and then say something like "and that's our story tonight, on LITB?"

Yes, he did. That's precisely what I was referring to in my intial post.

Hugh's opening narration, which was a preview of what the story was about was used during LITB's first season and then dropped. (Unless the original prints had this in subsequent seasons) Most syndicate prints kept this intact. When TV Land acquired the rights, the narrative was no longer included.
