I seem to recall that the first Van Nostrum appearance was as a Professor, rather than a doctor. I think it was in the Nose Job when Kramer posed as a professor who had "contended" in his book that Shakespeare was not all he was cracked up to be. Was there any set-up for the Van Nostrum character, and how did he become a doctor? I guess checking the script might be a start,

How then did he become a doctor? I think the first arrival of the doctor was when Elaine needed to get her medical records in an epi which I do not know the name of. Im guessing the doctor role fit better and they just trotted out the Van Nostrum to go with it, although I recall that Kramer went with Dr. Cosmo Kramer, proctology in the Assman episode. Well I guess I have more questions than answers.

I don't think there was ever an explanation of why Professor changed to Doctor...It just did I think.

The same way George's "Art Vandelay" alter ego could be used as needed.

I'll do some snoopin' & poopin' on the "Von Nostrum" handle.

Thats what I was hoping for, except maybe the poopin part  I think it was used as needed, but I was just sort of babbling my thoughts out there cause I was surprised when I heard the "professor" name applied to Van Nasty.
