Every single network always air shows that aired in the 50s, 60s, 70s, & 90s, but why can't they air any shows that came out in the 80s? I know that Nick-@-Nite & TVLand only show few 80s sitcoms that are quite annoying like Cheers, Full House, Roseanne, Square Pegs, Mama's Family & especially that darn "Cosby Show". But what about shows like Coach, Family Ties, Perfect Strangers, Head of The Class, Kate & Allie, My Sister Sam, Bosom Buddies, Amen, ALF, Night Court & the rest of the 80s shows that were cool. The should have a network called the "80s TV Channel".

Although I disagree with you about those shows being "annoying"....

we do need an 80s channel.

just an observation, but I know that Cheers, Full House, Roseanne and Cosby Show all had long network runs...so there are plenty of episodes to show without repeating them... And Family Ties and Coach have both had long runs on (I believe) Nick at Nite (as opposed to TV Land).

Some of the other shows you mention did not have very long network runs...I mean, how many episodes of Bosom Buddies were there?

And of course, the only reason that "Square Pegs" is being aired is because it starred a much hyped and over rated SJ Parker. It was a stupid show.

And, although TV Land does air some shows that were only on for a season or two, keep in mind that a season back in the 50s and 60s usually meant about 39 episodes, whereas a season in the 80s or 90s might mean about 20-22. So a sitcom from those days filmed almost as many episodes in one season as a show from today would film in two seasons.

I think that, most likely, TV Land and/or Nick at Nite would limit the showing of these short-lived shows to occassional retrospective box sets, but probably won't make them a part of their regular schedule.

I think the idea of an 80s channel would be great. In fact, I can see a great case for dedicating a network to each decade.

And for you youngsters out there, don't give up hope...when I was in college (back in the 80s), my friends and I used to talk about how great it would be if a TV Network would get together all the great shows we grew up watching, and just air them 24 hours a day...back then, we'd never heard of Nickelodeon, and I'm sure there was no TV Land...but of course, TV Land and Nick at Nite stole our idea, and now we get to watch a lot of those great old shows...

So, I'm sure that decade by decade networks will be formed at some point...just a question of when... I mean, if there's a "demand" for shows about people house hunting, or decorating each other houses, or a bunch of Austrailian morons hunting crocodiles, I'm sure that someone out there will be smart enough to put together an 80s network...

Definitely have to agree with you re the Cosby show being played to death...

IMO, both Family Ties and the Cosby Show went on too long in their original runs...but I'd like to see Family Ties back in the N@N lineup...and I'd love to see The Cosby Show put on the shelf for a few years... Family Ties was a better show IMO, it had more episodes that were really funny...

Seems to me I've seen Family Ties run at like 5:00 a.m. or something (Eastern Time) on N@N...I don't know if it still is, or maybe that was just on weekends... Anyway, I'd like to see Family Ties back in the lineup...

Look. Perfect Strangers, Head of The Class, Kate & Allie, & Amen ran long enough. I don't care if those shows aired 4, 5 to 6 seasons. So don't say that they were short-lived sitcoms.

I like the idea of an all 80s network. But please, whatever they do, I hope to God they dont include the Cosby Show. I love TCS just like anyone else but I hate to see the same God damn episodes all the time. I would like to see reruns of shows like Silver Spoons, Punky Brewster, maybe even stupid Alf, and Too Close for Comfort!

Sometimes, I wish I could start and run my own network. Then I would aire shows that I prefer instead of stuff that is run into the ground.

Yeah, out of all of the 80's shows they air, I can't stand any of them ESPECIALLY Cosby, that show is so annoying...I wish they'd put on ALF or something. They had some 80's marathon on N@N once and they aired it for a little while and I really liked it. I havn't seen any of the other shows you mentioned other than Silver Spoons that was on in the marathon, too... being I was BORN in 1989 lol...

An 80s network would be fantastic. I'd love it. So many shows, not just from the 80s (but definitely more in this decade than any other) are overlooked. We could stand a new classic tv channel, AND an all 80s channel.

It still surprises me Alf was never picked up by N@N on a regular basis, I heard it did *really* well for them during the marathon.

To be fair, N@N did air FOL and Diff'rent Strokes, but they were barely on for a year, so...

I'm honestly surprised they kept Family Ties/Perfect Strangers/Head of the Class as long as they did.

At least ABC Family airs Growing Pains, and sometimes Wonder Years, and now Family Matters, but god, do we really need another 4 episodes of Full House? 8 episodes of Roseanne/Cosby Show a day? No. Oxygen's only classic show (Cybill is in between and Roseanne is, although I love it, overplayed) Kate and Allie was dumped. Wonder Years is being dumped again. I just don't get it. The 80s shows should do well considering they're never played... lol
