i heard he did:confused: what episode was this and what happened?
I don't think Ward ever addressed Beaver as "Stupid," but the boys claim he called them stupid in "Tire Trouble," when they failed to clean out the garage after Ward ordered them to. What he said was, "It was a very stupid thing to do, to leave in that condition 2 days in a row."
Ward also told Beaver "it was a very stupid and careless thing to do" to let a kid steal his new bicycle by suckering him in "Beaver's Bike."

This goes to show ya that things are taken out of context at times. Just like there were so many times that the boys claimed Ward was yelling at them and he wasn't. Example: In Beaver the Athlete...at the dinner table Ward was asking why Beaver got a D in physical education and then Wally told June that Ward was yelling at the Beaver for getting the D.

I thought Ward was a great dad. I never understood why the boys were always so scared to tell him when they were in trouble. Ward would tell them time and time again not to be afraid to come to him with their problems but they never seemed to get that. The worst thing Ward ever did was raise his voice but the kids were always afraid they would get clobbered.

I agree with ya. I think the writers made the boys a little too stupid at times or at least very gulible, which I guess was part of the fun but geez! I find LITB to be very refreshing when it comes to Ward and June being the parents they were, they were so understanding and patient. If I pulled half the crap they did...well lets just say I wouldn't be sitting down too easy being that my father was a big bad Marine with little patience.

Hi...........I'm new here but very glad to find this place.
I gotta say my favorite parts of LITB were always when Ward would become flustered by the boys' actions or comments. I saw some of the very early episodes recently and was a bit surprised at how surly Ward could be with the boys. He defintely mellowed over the course of the show's run

hi, welcome to the board, Gamble.
Come over here to the sane side of the board...you are standing over there in the crazy side! :)
I think that everything Ward said to the boys, whether it was softly spoken or even a little more harshly, it was always spoken with emotion that showed love, and both the boys knew and understood that. Ward was the type father that more kids should have. At least that is my reading on him.
