Because if you notice, something was always going on. They did have storylines. Your thoughts.

Well if it was really about nothing I doubt Russel would have let it get on the air. It started out being about not much, little everyday stuff and inane discussions over the details of life most people gloss over. It got to be about more as the show progressed.

Exactly, that's why it bothers me when the media says it was a show about nothing, when in essence it was always about something.

I think the creators liked to use that name for the show.
"Everybody's doing something, we'll do nothing!"

Now the earlier episodes they really did nothing.

I think in "Nothing," they were refering to the excruciating minutiae, the little shnit that we do & see every day.
Jerry's stand up work was the observance type comedy of these everyday things, pointed out in his comedic way, and the show is based on his stand up.
Since nothing means ALL this little stuff we all call "Nothing,"
"Nothing" in this case means "Everything."
It was a show about everything :D 'cause as we know, it's all little shnit.
