Anybody else think it's kind of weird that studios seem to base whether or not they will continue releasing season sets of a particular show based on the sales of the first season? For example, I'm concerned that I may not get future seasons of Good Times on dvd because the first season set may not have sold what the studio would find acceptable. But that same studio (Columbia) in the past has released vhs and dvds of shows with like either two or four episodes on a single tape/disc, through mail order. They'd send you a new vhs/dvd every four weeks or so. I would think doing it that way would be less profitable for them than the way it's done now. I can't imagine that the sales for tv shows released the old way were better than it would be now, with tv-on dvd so popular. If they saw a market for selling tv series on vhs/dvd years ago, I hope they realize that the market is even bigger now, and that they should continue to release all these shows. They shouldn't start if they're not gonna finish. If I have to wait much longer for Good Times Season Two, I'll go

Unfortunately I think the sales of the first season has a direct impact on whether they will release additional ones.

Mary Tyler Moore is one perfect example.

You know what I find odd is that you hardly ever see TV shows on dvd advertised on television.

How can you not advertise a tv show on tv?
