OK... Roseanne tells Dan she is pregnant in the Season Opener for Season 7 "Nine is Enough" in SEPTEMBER of 1994. She doesn't give birth though til Halloween of 1995. That is almost 14 months she is pregnant. That doesn't make sense...
Similarly, Jackie announces she's pregnant on the October 19, 1993 episode "Be My Baby" and gives birth in "Labor Day," which aired less than five months later, while Darlene's pregnancy lasted almost a year.

Oh well, not like they are real life situations.

But it's supposed to be a portrayal of real life... Come on, pregnant for 13 1/2 months and pregnant for 5 months, it's IMPOSSIBLE!!!

Darlene's pregrnancy on the show was announced in February of 1996, but she didn't give birth until March of 1997, and her baby was, like, two months premature. Now that's stetching it!

Jackie's is plausible since some episodes might take place months apart. The other two pregnancies don't make sense. Hey, what about both of Crystal's pregnancies?

Realize that the 1996 season opener, while airing some four months after the season finale for the previous season, in "show time" took place only a day or so after the big fight that Roseanne and Dan had.

1) OK! Roseanne was really pregnant so they had to keep her pregnancy going until she gave birth. They said her character was pregnant in September 1994 and her son was actually born on Aug 5, 1995. And you guys arn't allowing for summer breaks.
2) Laurie metcalf was also actually pregnant when they wrote in the story with Andy. However Laurie did not know she was pregnant until later so that is why they rushed her pregnancy along and she gave birth in "Labor Day"
3) Darlene was pregnant in March 1996. They did not know they were coming back for a 9th year so they did not pick up her pregnancy until the fall of 96. She did not even start to show until Jan of 97 and gave birth in March.
Hope this clarifies everything!

Sara Gilbert was not pregnant in real life. I heard she's a lesbian anyway.

I heard that Sara Gilbert from Roseanne is not a lesbian but another Sara GIlbert who was in Walkin' on Sunshine: the movie
Were Johnny Galecki and Sara Gilbert good friends?

Okay people, like other people said: This is TV. If you remember when you were watching the show new, the time seemed correct. Writers don't write tv shows to last decades they write them for the time slot they have at the time. It's impossible to write a tv show that will air consectuatively (spelling?).
I'm not sure if Sarah and Johnny were friends but I have heard that Roseanne brought Johnny on the show to set him up with Sarah.

Laurie knew she was pregnant, she said it at the Emmy's in 1993 when she won for best supporting actress, she is about 5 months in during the season premiere you can clearly see she is pregnant.
I think they just had to make a plausible storyline, to justify the pregnancy and introduced Fred, remember they slept together once during the second episode that was when she got pregnant not in October, by October she was already a month along.
Also If you listen closely Roseanne says in the second episode that Jackie hadn't been with anyone for 6 months, she broke up with Fisher in Jan/Feb 93 meaning the episodes from Sep-Oct 93 were set in Jul/Aug, this makes sense since Darlene hadn't yet started college in the season premiere. It comes into real time during Halloween that is when Laurie shows off her bump.
Also Laurie gave birth in Nov 93, meaning they must have filmed Sep-Mar episodes between Jul and Oct 93 to accomodate her and to lengthen the pregnancy.
However Jackie was also overdue by three days even though her pregnancy was still shorter than nine months.

I loved when Jackie said "I'm going to be a 70 year old woman carrying a 40-year-old baby" and Roseanne says "Jackie, your only 3 days overdue" then Jackie exclaims "I have a 3 day old baby inside of me! Look at me"

I think that the moral of this story is not to assume the show is going on in "real time".

i read some magazine article and it said Roseanne set Sara Gilbert and Johnny Galecki up in real life and they dated for a bit. but she says it was just a teenage dating thing.
