Upon a friend's recommendation, I picked up their album today Permission To Land.
Straight-on hard rock. They've got a very catchy, 80s influenced sound. I'm still trying to figure out who they remind me of. The singing is high pitched (what I usually like) & may be slightly reminiscent of Lou Gramm from Foreigner. The music has an AC/DC sound, but is more melody driven. Hmm- just imagine if Foreigner had AC/DC's aggression & attitude. Sometimes though, the guy sings like he's being silly. I can't tell if they're a "serious" band or a total retro parody. The liner note photos show the band in very "80s rock star" scenarios- backstage drinking, spandex, on-stage craziness, etc.

I doubt they'll be around for very long, but serious or not, I like these guys!

I posted a thread about The Darkness here ages ago. But I'm glad someone else here recognises true rock greatness when they hear it. The Darkness are serious and they're here to stay!
Altogether now:
Gimme a 'D'! Gimme an 'aaaaaaaaaaaaaarkness'!!!! :D

I saw one of their videos today. I really like their sound...it reminds me of older rock bands.

Hey up there Hannah! (she's one of classic rock music's future hopes!)

I've been replaying the cd a lot today & the more I hear them, the more I'm laughing at the guy's singing! (Y'gotta hear "I Believe In a Thing Called Love"!) It sounds like he's singing outta his range when he goes for higher notes, so as a result, it sounds like he's totally goofing off. But the *music* rocks & it sounds like they're just having fun! I like em! :)

Their single is so great! I laughed so hard when I heard it -- not because it was funny, but because it was very much something you don't hear anymore. I love the guys voice.....song makes me want to dance.
