I saw a commercial on NBC touting the season debut of Scrubs and I swear I thought I heard a "laugh track" inserted in the scenes they showed. I hope I was temporarily insane when I saw this. The show works great without the laugh track. Please, please, please leave things as is.

yeah I heard it too. I thought it was weird, but no Its still the same way it was. But I hate it when shows don't have laugh tracks so I wish it were true!

no you are not insane. NBC seems to do that when they advertise their shows. Even a show like Scrubs which doesn't have one. I'd rather it not have one. It just seems stupid to add a laugh track when their is no studio audience. I however wish they did have a studio audience. I'd love to sit and watch a taping.

really? I've gotten to the point I prefer it when sitcoms are without them. My main problem with Friends is that every single line on the episode is followed with laughing (my dad pointed it out once too). I like it on comedies like Scrubs and S&TC where the audience is given the opportunity to laugh when they feel appropriate, instead of having a laugh track telling you "this is where you're supposed to laugh".

I'm happy to report the laugh track was not used on the show. Whew. We return you now to your regularly scheduled program.

Some shows a laugh track works, others it doesn't. Scrubs wouldn't work with one because of the sight-gags it uses. I think Spin City could have been better without a laugh track also.
