Now we have the first season in syndication, what does everyone think of it? I thought the first half or so was pretty bad, nothing particularly amusing. Carrie's sister was unfunny and cliche #12 out of the sitcom textbook (struggling actor). I was glad when they got rid of her - was it explained? Same for Richie (Doug's friend) was also a one-note character. Also in the pilot, Carrie is almost perky, certainly something that changed with later episodes.

Oh I see. I was going mostly by memory myself, I moved here from England where it had been on almost constant rotation daily for the past few years.

They are showing the first season in order now in the Detroit area. The sister is gone after the second episode.
