I have the VHS version (not the original VHS copy). It has a behind the scenes look at the making of the film. I looked through one of my record jackets and I saw a catalog of old Disney albums and it says "'Sleeping Beauty' told and sung by Mary Martin". I wonder that I might want to get it or not. It could be in several flea markets and it's hard to find.

Yes! One of my favorites, too. I like the fact that the prince isn't a complete Captain Cardboard like most of the Prince Charmings (Samson definitely helps with that), and I love Meriweather!(sp?)
"Make it pink!" "Make it blue!"
"Now, Father, you're living in the past. This is the fourteenth century!"
it was always my favorite. when does it come out?

I used to love that movie when I was little. Call me weird but my favorite character was Maleficent. That is mostly because I am a fan of the woman who was the voice of her: Eleanor Audley. Fans of Green Acres will recognize her as Eunice, Oliver's mother.

She was also the voice of the Stepmother in Cinderella :)
My fave was always Prince Phillip though. As opposed to so many other Disney princes, he actually had a personality - and a first name!

I used to have a copy of it taped from The Disney Channel back in the 1980s. I haven't seen it for about 5 years. This thread really brings back memories for me. When I visit my sister this weekend, I'll watch it. It will be interesting seeing how different the channel was back then as opposed to today.

Okay, gotta ask: who was your favorite fairy?
Mine was always Fauna :)

That movie was ok...
Philip killed Mallificent.
OMG...she's like...the BEST villain!! I dunno WHY I'm so fascinated with her. I guess it's the clothes or something...but one day I'm like, "OMG! Mallificent's AWESOME!!!" and I have a lil Mallificent porcelain (sp?) thing and a Mallificent shirt thingy...it's great.

Mallificent was awesome...
I also liked Fauna, but choosing between pink and blue for the dress- pink.
The scene where she pricks her finger always freaked me out especially since my mother had all these antique spinning wheels when I was younger...

Finally bought sleeping Beauty...I hadn't seen it for a few years and I have to say that it is some what refreshing to see such a classic. Not even the "lion king" compares to it. It is perfect: A princess, faries, a prince, a funny short fat king, a tall king, a queen, A dragon/sword fight, magic, singing, the color changing dress, and the greatest bad guy (or should I say woman) of them all....Mallificent! The quality of the art in that movie is outstanding, it seems like you're watching a painting move instead of an actual movie. Another thing I loved was the fact that it wasn't filled with a series of "one-liners" like the more recent Disney movie seem to be. It is funny, yet very entertaining. Great movie! and In my opinion the best one out of the Walt Disney series.
