I was able to attend a preview of this show this past week in a movie theater, and I loved it. It is very different from the usual sitcom, the humor is more subtle and I feel hilarious and insightful, and I recommend that the viewer actually pay close attention to the show. The is humor in the smallest of scenes and even in facial expressions. Not sure the average viewer will get it, but I feel there wasn't one lame moment in the show. Definitely worth taping because the show has so much in it that you may even miss some of the best parts with paying close attention, and honestly it is worth seeing again.

"Arrested Development" is the best new comedy this Fall.

I never thought I would actually say this but Jason Bateman was very funny.
Not to mention there is a great supporting cast to boot.

Thumbs up kids, this show is brilliant.

Yep.All of that but remember, "FOX" and "Brilliant Sitcom" in the same sentence usually means "Cancelled by January" ;).

Also, I hope they do more with Mae and George Michael. They are my new favorite sitcom couple! :D

As for the premiere episode ratings, it was 4th place with only a 5.2/8 in it's timeslot. Down from it's lead in, Malcolm in the Middle's 6.8/10, which was decent. The only thing in that 9:30 slot did worse than Arrested Development was WB's Tarzan.

If Arrested Development has a big drop-off next week like it did week from Malcolm, then FOX will not be happy. If it only drops a few points, then they'd be somewhat happy. The viewers 18-49 ratings are not in yet, but I'm expecting 4th in the slot in that as well, behind Law & Order: CI, Alias, and CBS's 75th.

I really liked Arrested Development, and I hope it stays around for a long time. It is defintely the best new sitcom of this or last season.

It has to be given a chance. Where I live, it started 15 minutes late due to the football game. This is the funniest show since Curb. Tape this show!

It was good! The trailer with the father in jail saying that he was having the time of his life probably prompted me to at least see what this show was about. And it was hilarious. I taped it and watched it a few times. Dysfuntional is a term that is perhaps over used, but I'm not to sure what normal is anymore and this is dysfunction at its finest... THE BROTHER IN-LAW GOT ON THE GAY PROTEST SHIP IN HIS WIFES CLOTHES... need anymore be said!?!?!?

The second episode did worse than episode one even. Episode two had a 4.2/6, for fourth in it's timeslot. Fourth in it's slot in viewers 18-49 as well. Out of the twenty shows last night, Arrested Development was #17. It needs to pick up the ratings or at least get close to what lead-in Malcolm in the Middle gets. 'Malcolm' got a 5.7/8, down from last week's 6.8/10.

How sad. This show is amazing, and is getting ratings like that.

I loved last night's episode, it was hillarious. I really hope that FOX keeps AD, for some reason even though it isn't getting great ratings I have a feeling FOX might keep it so it can compete in the emmys.

There was some competition last night with the Smart and L nch movies. It's the best thing going on tv right now. I would put it on at 8:30 right after the Simpsons.

No, after tonight's episode, that's it. Bad show! A teenage boy who wants to kiss his cousin? A dad in prison who loves it and is having the time of his life? I fail to find humor in this show. Jason Bateman is a good, but the rest of it sux. That bald guy who was once a psychiatrist and now thinks he's an actor? I can't laugh with, or even laugh AT this show. It's awful and needs to be axed...the sooner the better.

Wow.
Very big suprise.... Im not usually a fan of single camera shows.
But this blew me away.... its definately the best new show of the season.
Its not laugh-out-loud funny.... but its very smart, creative, and does make laughs.
Ill definately be tuning in regularly.

I used that mini-marathon on New Years Eve to catch the show for the first time after hearing all the positive critical reviews. It's pretty funny, some characters are over the top just enough to give the show its edge. I'll be watching it on a regular basis now.

this is a great edgy sitcom. the only people I know who dislike it are people into Raven and Lizzie Maguire, so it's not like they're taste experts, LOL

I think it's the best comdey sitcom currently on tv. It's crazy, with George SR in jail becoming Jewish, to Buster dating Lucille 2

just the fact that they call her "Lucille 2" makes this a perfect TV show.

cant wait till tonight's episode.

What is it about this show you're not getting? The point of the show is the family's various dysfunctions in a quirky yet somewhat charming way. Such,in real life, most of these people would be viewed as intolerable(Bateman's character, notwithstanding)but you have to enjoy the show because of its absurdity. If you like your humor to be spoon-fed to you,in that "light hearted and cutesy"manner, then this show isn't for you. I pray this show stays on for a second season and .hopefully,longer...

"Golden Girls rock",indeed...
