View Full Version : Do you have DVDs that "freeze" for a second?

I have noticed that on at least 4 of my dvds there is a point where the picture freezes for a second, like it is stuck, and continues.

It has happened on these dvds for me:

Mallrats
Starship Troopers
My Man Godfrey (Criterion)
Donnie Darko

On Donnie Darko, I looked up on the web and someone remarked that it was an anomaly on the disc- that it happens on some players and not others. So could it be a player problem as well?

Does anyone have a problem with the one second freeze on their dvds?

Yeah mine only happens on my Bringing Down the House DVD. All of my others seem to be fine.

What kind of player do you have?

I have read that this happens also due to a layer change on dvds.

But I know as far as Donnie Darko is concerned, that is supposed to happen at another point. Maybe I missed it.

It is just freaking annoying.

That happens with all my DVD's. Basically what mine does is about an hour into the movie, It'll stop for a few seconds, make a little noise, and then go to the next scene. I doesn't really bother me too much though. I just figured it was something that happens with all DVD players.
