Here's an interesting article on Don LaFontaine, the man behind that famous voice on all those movie trailers.
Dateline profiled him a few year's back, and I've noticed his voice ever since.

I hate all those sinister voiceovers, I think the best trailers are ones that just shows clips, and some writing in between (like hannibal) instead of talking. The Hulk was probably the worst case of cheesy voiceover dialogue- alot of jokes are made in school about the guys doing voiceovers- and people have made up sum of their own

Everyone needs to check out the trailer for Jerry Seinfeld's "Comedian." He's priceless in it.

Voiceovers used for movie trailers and it was shown in theatres in which it shows previews right before the main feature movie. Are there any voiceover work want to do a preview of Mary-Kate & Ashley's new flick "New York Minute" which it becomes a trailer and it says in the end "Coming soon". Is it going to be in theatres until the shooting is going to be complete?

I was jealous as hell reading about what a cruise through life that guy has had. In a world where, for most of us, there is no where to run, no where to hide and no way out, it's demoralizing to discover that Finding Nemo is considered to be beyond brilliant by someone who has so much opportunity to find so much more.

LOL Kitt. You know, of course, that Mr. Voice saying that Finding Nemo was brilliant was said with tongue firmly planted in cheek.

Regarding the discussion on how much Don LaFontaine earns, he states in this article that he makes millions. What a job.
Reading the first article I posted, it's clear that he worked hard and paid his dues that allows him to ride the gravy train....actually he invented that gravy train.

I am curious why only one man does every movie voiceover.
(I am of course assuming he does EVERY one, it does seem like it.)

That sure as hell kills a lot of work for other people in the business.

Is it just the familiarity factor?

If I could get to the movies more, maybe I would know this.

Of course it would help if there was more watchable films out there.

But I used to be able to find some good ones with a little research.

In fact, quite a few of them are enjoying much more success at this time than I am. It's to be expected. Each generation of producers wants to put their own 'stamp' on the product, and that usually means a new 'sound'. Even if it is just a variation on the old sound.

OK you caught me, I didn't re-read the article.

I read it before and was under the impression he did most of the movies. I can't remember the last time I didn't hear his voice doing it though (and what actors are doing trailer voice overs?)

I would also like to do voiceover work.
Maybe I could start out doing commercials, like being that dog begging for bacon-

"BACON! Bacon, bacon, bacon, it's BACON!"

I could do that.
I like bacon.

LOL on the bacon ad. That commercial amazes me in the fact that it's been around forever. It's gotta be a decade, at least.
