Clown Posse insane, and just bad

Magazine names X-rated rap band worst rock group ever

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 13 — Insane Clown Posse, the Detroit rap duo beloved by teenage boys for their creepy face make-up and X-rated lyrics, have been named the worst band ever by Blender magazine.

THE MUSIC PUBLICATION’S September issue said Insane Clown Posse “sound even stupider than they look,” and derided them for rapping about “40-ouncers and venereal disease.”
Officials at the band’s Psychopathic Records label were less than enthusiastic about the rating.
“They’ve brought themselves up from nothing to become an international musical phenomena (sic), and yet, somehow, they still get no respect from fine mainstream publications such as Blender Magazine,” they said in a Web posting (http://www.insaneclownposse.com).
They noted that the Insane Clown Posse album dubbed the worst by Blender, “The Wraith: Shangri-La,” actually received a three-star review (i.e. very good in its genre) in the publication’s January/February issue.
No. 2 on the list was 1970s supergroup Emerson, Lake & Palmer, followed by once-hirsute balladeer Michael Bolton, mellow jazz saxophonist Kenny G. and the Jefferson Airplane pop spinoff Starship.

I don't think they're all that bad. I've only heard one of their songs, along with a bunch of sound samples of some of their other stuff, but they really didn't sound any worse to me then most of the rap artists that are played on MTV today. Infact I thought they sounded better then most of the rap Iv'e heard on that wretched channel. I guess it's just a matter of opinion, but based on the little Iv'e heard, I think I.C.P. is pretty good.

They are right up there along with Limp Bizkit. But ICP definately beats them. LOL... they are honestly VERY terrible.

You know, I've never even heard their music. (Can we call it music??  ) But I've always thought it was cool for a rap group to take KISS' makeup idea and make it into a neat gimmick.

Always remember, bad taste has always been necessary in rock and roll. Okay, so it's rap.

But I REALLY have a hard time with that article saying that Emerson, Lake, and Palmer being one of the "worst" bands in rock history. They obviously haven't heard the album "Brain Salad Surgery." "Karn Evil #9", etc.

I was thinking the same thing. When I saw their name on the list, I had to do a double take, because I thought I was seeing things. I can think of alot of people that are worse then them, including 90 percent of todays mainstream artists. I was also kind of surprised that Kenny G made that list. Him and Michael Bolton are easy targets, but neither are truly as bad as people make them out to be. But I'm probably alone their.

you're on your own with Kenny G, but I will admit Bolton is not as bad as it's made out. He had some good songs between 1987-1993. He was never one of my fave artists, and Soul Provider is the only album of his I ever bought, but he wasn't that bad

It's good to know that I'm not totally alone here. Michael Bolton has had tons of top 10, and number one hits like: Soul Provider, Dock Of The Bay, How Can We Be Lovers, Time Love & Tenderness, Steel Bars, Said I Loved You, Love Is A Wonderful thing, go the distance, (Which was Oscar nominated), and to love somebody, among others. An Oscar nominated guy with that many great songs should definitely not be on this list!

Primus was on that list.

Any list that includes Primus on a "Worst Bands Ever" thread isn't worth the paper it was printed on.

Primus is/was a great band!! I saw them open for Rush back in 1992, and they were great!!! Not too many bands have a bass player that is more prominent than the guitar player. Les Claypool is one of the best!!

I remember what he said when they opened for Rush over ten years ago:

"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!!!!! THIS SHOW IS DEDICATED TO BARNEY FIFE!!!!!!!"
