{Interior-McNeil House, Chris and Regan are eating dinner. The doorbell rings, Chris goes to answer it and Howard is there.)

Howard: Chris, it's good to see you again.

Chris: (Sighs) It's been a long time. (Holds the door open wider)

Howard: Thanks. Where's Regan?

Chris: Eating dinner.

Howard: I'm sorry to interupt.

Chris: You're not.

Regan: (Runs in) Daddy! (Hugs him)

Howard: Hi sweetheart! I missed you!

Chris: (Looks around, then starts to leave)

Howard: Where are you going?

Chris: I was just going to give you time to catch up, like you said, it's been a long time.

Regan: (Stands between them, then grabs Howard's hand) I can show you my new horse, daddy!

Howard: (Glances at Chris then at Regan) Okay honey. (To Chris) Come with us?

Chris: (Smiles) No, it's okay.

Regan: Come on mother!

Chris: (Reluctantly) Alright.

Regan: Watch me, daddy! Watch me!!! (laughing and runs horse all over the yard)

Howard: (smiles) It's great to see her so happy after...

Chris: Yea. I know. Like I said, she doesnt remember any of it.

Howard: That's good...

Chris: I'm gonna go in and ask Carolyn to- (stumbles over something) Oops! Hey...what- (picks up what she stumbled over- a tiny statue of Captain Howdy [Pazuzu])

Howard: (curious and looks over to see what Chris found) Well...(huckles) That's an odd looking...thing.

Chris: Yea isn't it funny? (laughs) Looks like...a clay figure...

Regan: Daddy!!! Watch this!! (makes Rain junp over a log)

Howard: Hey! That's great, darling!

Chris: (looks around and pockets the tiny statue)

Emily: (Walks outside and looks around)

Chris: (Calls) Regan honey, can you come here for a second?

Regan: (Rides up to Chris and stumbles off her horse)

Emily: (Catches her) You okay?

Regan: (Smiles) Yeah, thanks.

Emily: I'm Emily.

Howard: (Whispers to Chris) Looks like she's going to be playing with her friend, we have time to talk.

Chris: Really, I have nothing to say to you.

Regan: Yep! (hops on horse) Hey wanna get on?

Emily: (gives puppy dog eyes) I'm not sure if i know how...I'll need help...

Emily: What did your dad say? I've been worried.

Regan: He was convinced we'd done something wrong. I don't know why he thinks he can be a father now, he never has been. He didn't even call me on my birthday. But I told him nothing was going on.

Emily: I have to deal with that every day. I have such strict parents, they want me to have perfect grades and lead this perfect life. All those rules just make me miserable, sometimes I just want to find someone who will make me feel happy.

Chris: (in a sort of dream-reality trance; room is spinning; her bed is shaking and bouncing off the floor; a million voices and sounds run around in her head) (wakes up on the floor with her nose bleeding and numb) Oh for Christ's sake! CAROLYN! Get in here! My nose is broken!

Carolyn: (runs in and turns on the light) Oh God, Chris. What the hell happened? There's blood everywhere! Your nose is black and blue! (grabs some tissues)

Chris: I don't know! (dabbing the tissues on her nose)

Carolyn: Alright, alright. Get in the car. I'll drive you to the After hours Emergency at the clinic...

(as they leave the room, camera zooms in to the tiny statue of Pazuzu standing upright in the small pool of Chris's blood)

Carolyn: Um, nothing. (Parks outside the hospital)

Dr. Kenning: (studies it closer) Yes...it looks to me like this broken nose was no accident...it looks like it was done by something powerful...something that meant business...a traumatic blow...not a good sign for recovery.

Dr. Greenlin: So what you're saying is-?

Dr. Kenning: Someone tried to kill Mrs. McNeil.

Dr. Kenning: (Closes the door and sits) We've received the results of Ms. McNeil's x-rays.

Carolyn: Is she okay?

(Cut to Dr. Greenlin talking to Chris)

Dr. Greenlin: Ms. McNeil...

Chris: (Still in her trance) Yes?

Dr. Greenlin: Did someone try and hurt you tonight?

Chris: No I just...I woke up and there was so much blood. So much, something's... (Her mind spins)

Dr. Greenlin: Something is what?

Chris: What?

Dr. Greenlin: Excuse me. (Returns to his office)

(cut to Regan and Emily)

Emily: Rags, are you sure this is okay? I just met you-

Emily's Mother: (knocks on door) are you two in bed yet?

Dr. Greenlin: It looks like it could be, I've never seen anything like it.

Dr. Kenning:We don't have time. I'll have a nurse show you to the waiting room.

Carolyn: (pacing back and forth) (Dr. kenning comes out) Well???

Dr. Kenning: Turns out it was just a fluid sack and a blood clot from the nose injury. But what I find strange about all this is how Chris could break her nose and shove the bone completely out of place by accident. It's not possible...

Carolyn: Look, Doc, I didn't have ANYTHING to do with it! I dont know what happened okay? I really dont!!!

Dr. Kenning: Well, I just think that maybe we-(nurse walks out)

Nurse: doctor, Paitent 297 is having violent seizures and spitting obscenities.

Dr. Kenning: (runs after Nurse)

Carolyn: (looks at registration card) (swallows a llump in her throat) that's...Chris...

(cut to Emily's room)

Regan: Emily, I've never met someone who made me feel like everything was going to be ok...like everything was right in the world...

Emily: Yea me too. I feel like I'm connected to you...like in some kind of spirtual way...like I was meant to help you...

Regan: Come here...(Regan kisses Emily gently and lovingly)

(cut to the operating room, Chris is thrashing around and swearing at the doctors)

Dr. Kenning: I've never seen anything like it.

Dr. Greenlin: (Tries to give her an injection)

Chris: (Kicks him against a wall)

Dr. Kenning: (Helps him up) Help me give her the injection.

Chris: (In a different voice) Stay away from me! Stay away!

Dr. Kenning: This is going to help-

Chris: (Dives out of the bed, attacking the doctors)

(Cut to Emily's room)

Regan: I don't know what I would've done if you hadn't come over. I wish you'd been there before.

Emily: Me too, I'll never let anything bad happen to you. (Kisses her again)

(all alarms are going off; doctors and surgeons from all wings are in trying to help Chris)

Chris: (biting nurse) stay away from me you slut! Take your needles and shove them up your ass! (hisses and spits snake venom at doctors)

Dr. Kenning: (recovering from blow) Oh...my...god...snake poison

(cut to Emily's room)

Regan: You'd really protect me?

Emily: Yea! I guess I'm you're boyfriend now!

Regan: (laughs) yea, but I like you better than any other boy in the 7th grade...

Dr. Kenning: She's not human!

Dr. Greenlin: Get a hold of yourself, something's just terribly wrong.

Dr. Kenning: (Tries to inject a sedative) Just wait, this should work.

Chris: (Kicks him as he finishes) Get away from me you bastard! (Eyes roll back in her head and she hisses at him)

Dr. Greenlin: (Steps closer to the door)

Dr. Greenlin: She's out cold...maybe that nose injury really did make her subconscience go wrong...you don't know what a little brain injury can do to somebody...

Carolyn: When does she get to go home?

Dr. Greenlin: Maybe tomorrow. We'd like to observe her tonight.

Carolyn: (sighs and moans and puts her head in her hands)

Dr. Greenlin: Go home please, Carolyn. Take care of her daughter, Regan.

Carolyn: Her dad is there. I can stay and-

Dr. Greenlin: Carolyn! Go home! Please! You need rest.

Carolyn: (nods)

(cut to breakfast time at Emily's)

Emily's Mother: You guys look pooped! Were up talking all night? (smiles) I remember my first sleep over-(drones on and on)

(Emily and Regan look at eachother as they finish up their waffles)

Howard: I was worried, no one answered the door. I didn't know if Regan was okay so I let myself in.

Carolyn: She's fine, she's staying with a friend.

Howard: Where's Chris?

Carolyn: I'll let her explain that to you if she wants. She'll be home tomorrow.

Howard: Tomorrow?

Carolyn: I need you to take care of Regan.

Howard: (Nods) Why?

Carolyn: I'm going to be gone as well. I just need to rest for a while I guess. (Goes back to her room and to sleep, but is awoken by a phone call) Hello?

Dr. Kenning: She's showing more signs of brain injury from the blow to the nose...which we'll also need to talk to you about at some point...

Carolyn: What? What are signs? What is she doing?

Dr. Kening: Well...screaming obscenities...making obscene gestures...hurting herself and people around her...acting delerious and hysteric. We had to...we had to...strap her to the bed so she wont get up.

(cut to Emily's front porch)

Emily: Well, goodbye, Regan! See ypu later today...(hugs her)

Regan: (smiles and walks home)

Carolyn: (falls asleep on train)

(CAROLYN'S DREAM)

(it's cold and damp as she's fighting against some force; she's pulling and pushing and biting and shoving against the invisible force; sees Chris's bed with possessed chris laying on it; in Regan's posessed voice she says "what an excellent day for an exorcism"; carolyn trys to scream but is held back by the force; flashes of when Regan was posessed go by; then the pictures stop on one scene-the crucifix scene; carolyn watches as Regan shoves the crucifix; again carolyn screams)

Regan: What? (Sees the priest) Oh my god!

Priest: Regan? It's good to see you! Where's your mother?

Regan: She's not here. We-

Emily: There's a good reason we're here. But she's not.

Priest: What's going on?

Carolyn: (She wakes up and looks around, then realises the train has arrived in houston. She gets off and sees Regan)

Regan: I'm sorry...but we found Father Dyer...

Carolyn: (face is pale) oh my god...Father Dyer...you better sit down...

Father Dyer: what is it? What's going on?

Regan: Mom's posessed.

(Everyone looks at her)

Regan: Father, we don't have much time...I don't and neither does she...

Priest: Let's all get on the train and go back home.

(cut to McNeil's home)

Priest: (Walks into the kitchen after a meeting with Chris) She's worse then even you were.

Regan: Why does this keep happening?

Priest: I don't know.

Emily: Will you be able to help?

Priest: If this demon killed Merrin and Karras, I'm not sure what I do would do any good.

Carolyn: You have to try.

whenever i walk i feel like im being stabbed in the back, literally. not to mention im having an asthma attack. i just wish that since you get exactly what you wanted, to be with regan in the story, that i could at least have chris in it.

Father Dyer: Is there a reason?

Chris: (papers and books fly all over the room; Chris laughs demonically; Father Dyer gets hit over the head with a bookweight)

Father Dyer: You may be m-m-more powerful than the human race, but you are not as powerful as the living God! SILENCE you beast of HELL!

Chris: Shove it you incessant swine! SHOVE IT UP YOUR ASS!!!!! (speaks in latin flicking demonic tounge in and out of mouth) You will die as the demons were cast into the pigs! INTO THE PIGS!!!

Father Dyer: (starts Holy ritual on Chris)

Chris: (jumps up from straps and punches Father Dyer) GET AWAY FROM ME!!!!!!!!

(windows shatter in the room as the room shakes)

Carolyn: (banging on the door) FATHER DYER?!? OPEN THE DOOR!!!

Chris: (rises bed off the floor and slams it back down making breakable things crash to the floor) KARRAS ROTS IN HELL!!!!!!!!!!

Father Dyer: Shut up! (starts to cry)

Chris: (laughing)

Father Dyer: (walks out of the room0

Chris: You little *****!!!! YOU'RE AFRIAD! You're little bible book doesn't do any good, does it? (laughs hysterically)

Emily: (looks up the stairs) I'll be right back.

Emily: You're right...I'm being dumb.

(cut to upstairs)

Carolyn: (reluctantly opens Chris's door)

Chris: (smiles evilily when she sees her)

Carolyn: Chris...?(door slams) Oh god...

Chris: God is not here...

Regan: (From behind the door) It's not worth it. There's nothing-
