1.Simon is a arrogant spinless,ego driven,Callous,jerk.
2.P.Abdul either finds arrogance attractive or she is terribly desperate
3.how can a bunch of so-called wannabe's get a recording contracts when there are more talented and more deserving talent that hasn't gotten a chance to commericalize their talents and exploit there talents for a person like simon.Who is he to tell anyone that they don't have what it takes, what has he done to prove his himself worthy of the title king of judges. He doesn't have any credibility with me or any sain person who know just because he is a recording exec doesn't give him the right to in a cruel. Being smarmy and rude and and mean doesn't make him a man.he doe's it because he knows this cocky attitude brings in ratings,if the shoe was on another foot and he was in the same place as these inspiring talents he would want mercy. Those who cannot act or sing tend to criticize others.those who do insult and ridicule who haven't paid the price ought to really keep their mouth shut especially Simon.I cannot imagine that P.abdul would go out with him or date him, there is no account for taste I guess.look at lyle lovett and julia roberts talking about opposites attract.anyways the networks who advocate doing shows like this have hit rock bottom.its a joke,as soon as these people become famous they will start bitching about loosing their privacy and the integrity of their product and blame the media the people who sell out their skills and craft for the money only have themselves to blame.the media feeds on the greed of the american people and those who loose their privacy really shouldn't blame anyone for those who lost friends and family because there swelled heads drove everyone away.Money is truly the root of al evils. Those who want fame are selling the souls to the devil and that is a no win situation.I know because my father,ex-step father, brother in law and cousin are all actors of sum to major acclaim.

Simon is a true, honest, man. He tells it like it is. You don't have to necessarily agree with him, I know sometimes I don't, but at least he doesn't sit there like some judges on other reality shows that bull$hit and lie their way through the hour.

Exactly. I mean, I don't watch the show either, but I've seen some of what Simon has said, and it's refreshing. While Paula is sitting there going "You're really good!", Simon actually has the guts to tell them they suck. And some I saw this time around did suck.

I agree. While sometimes the way he says it comes off as rude, he is being honest. He's not going to sit there and tell someone who can't sing that they have a chance of winning, he doesn't sit there and tell lies to people to make them feel better.

I'm proud to say that I have never watched American Idol. Therefore, I can't agree or disagree with harper.

Yeah I agree. On the first American Idol I thought that he was mean, but I changed the way I thought about Simon. He only tells the truth. I guess to some people, the truth hurts.
I really don't know but I would guess that Simon's gruffness and pointedness is ordinary. He might hamm it up some for entertainment value. But how blatently honest do you suppose those who are making decisions everyday at casting calls are? No time for beating around the bush. "Next!" ;)

Simon is probably one of the most brutally honest people in the world (emphasis on the brutal). But he is right almost all of the time. Those people who can't sing need to be told so in a straight-forward fashion and it may be painful but that's the way he is. It's possibly the only way the message can get through to those people.

That is the format of the show. Simon (and have you heard Randy too?) tell it the way they see fit. You can either like the format or not. These people trying out know what they are getting into. They know the judges are BURALLY honest, and they also know the judges hold their future on American Idol in their hands so they can become these "manufactured pop singers." It's just the way it is. The show is a mad success because of it. You can think that's disgraceful or not. I guess all of America (and England) has gone to hell. I personally get a kick out of the show. And people like harper aren't better than I am because they find it terribly contrived and tasteless when I think it's entertainment.
And Paula never dated Simon. It's been a rumor. I don't believe it anyhow.

I don't watch it because I don't like to see people have their dreams torn apart by someone so cruel. Who tells them they will never make it.

I totally agree!! Like paula sits there telling the people who stink, "You're going to win," and lieing through her teeth. Simon at least tells the truth, even though its rude and can hurt poeples feelings. Hes just telling them the truth so they don't think they're so good if they stink. But sometimes Simon is a bitch.
PS- AMERICAN IDOL ROXX!!!

Oh my dear boy, if people don't have talent and the judges are there to simply JUDGE than there is no harm in telling people if they "suck" or as Simon puts it "dreadfull," (or tell them they need voice lessions) or not. Im not sure if any of the judges have said that they are not going to make it. Simon may seem like a person who jus tells truth and doesn't care who he hurts, but the point being he IS honest and forthwright and I don't believe he is hurting them to be mean. The music industry is a majorly tough business there are people much more arrogant than people percieve Simon to be. Take care yall!:p

Alright now, I think Paula is great but sometimes she is too nice to people who need to be told the truth. Other than that I think she needs to sometimes just tell it honestly to people who need ta know. I would have to say Randy is the only judge who is honest and tells it like he see's it. Simon on the other hand is brutal but he is honest and I respect honesty. He could do without all the harsh comments and still tell the people singing that it wasnt good and they to work on it. I don't think anybody was doggin on Paula for that matter. She needs to be looser is all I'm sayin. Take care! :)

and... about Paula and how she's nice..
I think Paula is a great addition because she provides a smile for the contestants.
I mean, a constructive, nice, and "mean" one.... thats better than 3 mean ones.. (even though i dont think simon is THAT BAD! i actually like him).
But Paula is great...

Don't you remeber all the contestents talking about Paula giving them necklaces? And Clay saying he felt like a Pimp Daddy with all the jewelry? Maybe I dreamt that, but I don't think I did.

I like watching American Idol, and personally can't wait for American Juniors! Although I don't agree with the winners. Last year Kelly shouldn't have won, it should have been Tamira (sp?) and this year Clay should have won, not Ruben. And Simon is my fav. judge because he tells it like it is, although I don't always agree with him.
