None of them IMO were Classics. They were OK shows. Well except for Barney Miller. That show put the B in BORING.

Some will. I mean, big time box office star Will Smith was in Fresh Prince! It'll make it to DVD eventually.

I actually think that "Facts of Life," "Fresh Prince," and "Full House" have a high chance of being released on DVD. If "Saved By The Bell" can, so can those.
But I doubt I'll ever see "Small Wonder" again though. :(

I'd love to have 3's Company out on DVD. I would've been watching it when it was on N @ N before, but it came on so late, I didn't even bother. Now they have it on at 11 p.m., I've been watching it and I've totally got hooked.

Not for everyone. Barney Miller enjoyed a respectable seven year run, and was nominated for an Emmy for every one of those seven seasons.
Many people, myself included, love the show and appreciate the superb writing, acting and casting.

I agree! Barney Miller was a well-written, mature and funny show with memorable characters. (In its last season, it won the Emmy for best comedy series.) Of course, quality doesn't necessarily guarantee immortality on DVD.

I think that all of these shows have an advantage to be released on DVD because most of the sitcoms you listed are long-running and recognizable, I think there are many people out there that are willing to buy these series' on DVD.

Okay, I'm not a big fan of Full House either. Used to be when I was a kid, but I hate the show now. I don't care if it comes out on dvd. I won't buy it, but some people prob. will. Hey, if they like it and they want it, it'll be there for them to buy. Nobody holding a gun to my head making me look at the dvd or watch the show.
Everybody think of one of your favorite shows that isn't on dvd. You would pay a million bucks to see this certain show out on dvd, but most people you come in contact with look at you and say 'That show was crap. It'll never come out.' You want it, but they don't. Something happens and they release it on dvd (season by season or a best of, pick a choice). More than likely, you're gonna buy it. The people that don't like it, won't buy it.
I guess I'm just trying to say don't put down other peoples opinions. Not everybody likes M*A*S*H*, or Mary Tyler Moore Show, or Barney Miller, or even Full House. It's cool to not like a show, but you should respect the people that do like the show. jmo
Edit: If you like a show, you shouldn't put down the opinions of someone that doesn't like a show. What if someone quoted my post and said "Omg, You are so f'n crazy if you don't like FH. That is like the best show on tv. I took a hammer to my tv once the show ended. I don't even want to have a tv set if I can't see new episodes of FH. You are crazy." I respect this person likes FH and it would just be good manners if the person accepts that I don't like FH. It's just common courtesy. jmo

I consider Diff'rent Strokes, Facts of Life and Full House to be classic sitcoms.
Fresh Prince was great but I wouldn't count it as a classic.
Sister Sister was a fun show but again, not a classic.
Boy Meets World *almost* reaches the classic status with me but not quite. Don't ask why.
I'd count Fresh Prince as a classic. It was the show that made Will who he is today. And plus it left us with a lot of memorable characters. I mean, ask anyone who Carlton Banks is/was and I'm sure they'll give you a funny remark back. Same as Family Matters (is that even in DVD?). Like someone said earlier, I'm sure Fresh Prince will be released, but just not anytime soon.
Anyways, I'm new (obviously). Howdy.

If the network and production companies could be guaranteed a profit they would. The Carol Burnett on Columbia house didn't do well for some reason. There has to be engough of public outcry to get these shows on DVD.The problem is like everything the profit margin matters most.also each shows actors, writers, directors have to negotiate their profit of a package of a certain amount of shows.Writer, directors and actors have standard residuals that they can demand. Its a very personal person issue when it comes to balancing what these people feel entitled to and what is selfish. So Lawyers on both sides can get really mean not to mention the actors and their agents. Its not pretty. So if there is engough of a push for certain shows to get a DVD deal and studios will make money then and only then will a offer be made.
Mash and Seinfeld and shows that have legs are going to sell high.Alan Alda and Seinfeld have the name to get attention for products that they are involved with.I would love to see nike at nike buy the Rights to The Burnett Show, there just to cheap to do it.

Yeah, I'll remain optimistic. There are a few short lived shows I'd like to see. In the back of my TV Guide, you can write to them with different questions. One week, someone was asking how to get a hold of a really rare show, and the answer was there was no way to get it for the time being, but someday everything will be out on DVD, and then they'll get their chance. I hope that's the case!

I think that every semi-popular series will be released along the lines of the next few years. There have been SO many series have been released on DVD this year and some yet to come later this year, I think there has been far more releases this year, than any year before. I don't think that every series will be released, but atleast the most memorable and known, and if there is a demand for short-lived shows, I think there will be a market for a DVD.

Over its 11 season run it got more Emmy Nominations than any other show in TV history AND was a #1 hit.

right, and also "MASH". In fact; after the pilot episode of it aired; "Time" magazine called it "the biggest disapointment of the 1972-1973 fall season". It did so bad that CBS wanted to cancel it, but I heard that Bill Paley (the president of CBS in the 70s) had the network renew it because his wife liked it & asked him to bring it back.

Believe or not, the president of CBS' wife has always had a lot of control.
In the fall of '67 -- Gilligan's Island was set to come back for a fourth season, but with the schedule so tight -- the President of CBS asked his wife which show should stay between Gunsmoke and Gilligan's Island -- his wife liked Gunsmoke more -- so it stayed.
Sure -- it may have gotten more viewers then -- but no one could honestly say that Gunsmoke is more of a classic than Gilligan's Island.
Whoever runs CBS right now, better watch out.
Maybe his wife only married him to be the "eye" of CBS.

Not for everyone. Barney Miller enjoyed a respectable seven year run, and was nominated for an Emmy for every one of those seven seasons.
Many people, myself included, love the show and appreciate the superb writing, acting and casting.
You're absolutely right! BARNEY MILLER was definitely a classic. A superb
show (far better than any of the recent sitcoms that I have seen). It was
consistently funny with a great ensemble of actors. One of the all-time BEST!!

Why should that matter? You never pointed out in your original post in this thread and for this supposed offer that EVERY show you listed should be on DVD for you to win your so-called "bet." Now that 8 out of the 10 shows have been released in some form, all of a sudden, it's "best of's dont count" and "season 2 of Barney Miller isnt out there yet." Sorry. I agree with the others who say... "where's my effing money?"

If all the shows are not out in season format then I'm still right about what I said

Then that should have been in your original "offer" and not added as a nitpick after the fact.

You all crack me up. Don't you know Solomon by now? He will never admit he is wrong. Only once has he admitted he was wrong to me regarding the term "movin' on up" and even then it took a little work. Face it. He will make these posts and you won't get him to ADMIT he is wrong or "that is NOT what he meant."
