I'm wondering, what bands do you consider Goth? I think of bands like Sisters of Mercy, Mission UK, and Christian Death. Any others? The Cure has been considered a "Goth" band, but I've read Robert Smith denies that.

Btw, Marilyn Manson is NOT Goth.

shock-rock.

Cradle Of Filth and Kittie aren't really Goth either but it doesn't matter...

Yes and on to the Goth bands..beside the ones you listed my two favorites are Bauhaus and Siouxsie & the Banshees

Actually, Marilyn Manson is considered shock rock. I haven't really heard of Cradle of Filth, but I have heard they are metal. I forgot about Siouxsie & the Banshees and Bauhaus, definitely Goth. As a point of reference, Goth traces its origins back to the Doors.

I think people started thinking of Marilyn Manson as Goth after Columbine because they didn't know how else to categorize him, even though the shooters didn't like him.

I know this is off topic, really off topic, but does Marilyn Manson (especially when he was younger) remind anyone, besides me, of Alice Cooper?? I don't know why but he makes me think of him. Maybe its the long black hair and eyeliner. Crap, I dunno. Maybe I'm just weird.

Yeah, I do. My friends say Manson is a Alice Cooper wannabe...which could be true...

I kinda think he's a rip-off of Alice Cooper, too.

I read in a Christian rock magazine in an interview with Alice Cooper that he believes Marilyn Manson's "Antichrist Superstar" album was actually a metaphorical rant against Alice Cooper being a Christian.

Yeah, he reminds me of Alice too - they're both kind of freaky. The difference is, I like Alice and I don't like Marilyn.

Yeah, I don't care at all for Marilyn Manson. I really can't stand him. Alice, however, I think I could actually sit down and watch. I just couldn't watch Marilyn.

Brian Warner (aka Marilyn Manson) was not Paul, Arnold's friend on the Wonder Years. You're right about that.
