Now Bruce Springsteen, big American man, says that he was born in the U.S.A.,and recorded an album in tribute to 9/11/2001 "The Rising",now is in support of the Dixie Chicks, and enjoying every minute of it.

You and the Dixie Chicks need to Baghdad and sing your songs, they all love you over there!!!

Edit: Removed the "American Traitor" statement

The Dixie Chicks are Getting a Raw Deal...
by Bruce Springsteen

The Dixie Chicks have taken a big hit lately for exercising their basic right to express themselves. To me, they're terrific American artists expressing American values by using their American right to free speech. For them to be banished wholesale from radio stations, and even entire radio networks, for speaking out is un-American.
The pressure coming from the government and big business to enforce conformity of thought concerning the war and politics goes against everything that this country is about - namely freedom. Right now, we are supposedly fighting to create freedom in Iraq, at the same time that some are trying to intimidate and punish people for using that same freedom here at home.
I don't know what happens next, but I do want to add my voice to those who think that the Dixie Chicks are getting a raw deal, and an un-American one to boot. I send them my support.

how does that make him un-american and a traitor

I've never been a Bruce Springsteen fan before but, I applaud him for helping out the Dixie Chicks. I grew up in the 60's where Peace Protest were an everyday occurance. There were so many bomb scares that I was afraid. It's a shame that you can't speak your mind today.

I cannot believe a woman who gave her opinion is being ostracized like this. I think they should GET OVER IT!!! and concentrate on the WAR! Remember.......... Natalie Maines is by no means a JANE FONDA!

Bullshit. That does not make him a traitor, that makes him a free-thinker. You can be against what your government does and be a patriot at the same time.

And why does everyone think "Born In The U.S.A." is a "rah-rah America" song? Does anyone pay attention to the lyrics? It's about hardships during the Reagan Administration.

Born In The U.S.A.
(Springsteen)

Born down in a dead man's town
The first kick I took was when I hit the ground
You end up like a dog that's been beat too much
Till you spend half your life just covering up

Born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A.

Got in a little hometown jam
So they put a rifle in my hand
Sent me off to a foreign land
To go and kill the yellow man

Born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A.

Come back home to the refinery
Hiring man says, "Son if it was up to me."
Went down to see my V.A. man
He said, "Son, don't you understand now."

Had a brother at Khe Sahn
Fighting off the Viet Cong
They're still there he's all gone

He had a woman he loved in Saigon
I got a picture of him in her arms now

Down in the shadow of the penitentiary
Out by the gas fires of the refinery
I'm ten years burning down the road
Now here to run ain't got nowhere to go

Born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A.

I'm a long gone Daddy in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A.
I'm a cool rocking Daddy in the U.S.A.

Boy, I don't know where some people's heads are at, it's as if protest and social commentary in music never existed before.
Doesn't anyone think this whole crap about the war is to distract from domestic concerns? Isn't it just a diversion? What do you think of Bruce Springsteen getting mad at Ronald Reagan for jumping on the Bruce-lover bandwagon in the 80's when his policies hurt the very people Bruce sang about? The working man, the little guy, the middle class folks just trying to get a break...:(

100% Dixie Chicks=0% With Me

Since I am inclined to vote my own opinions,I think that the Dixie Chicks sob story was a huge fake to me. All of their allegations about their property being stolen I believe is a publicity stunt. What is all of the proof??? Do they have police reports??? Statements from neighbors??? Witnesses??? Fingerprints??? And their nude posing for Entertainment Weekly was the final straw for me in that department. What wants trash like that in their house??? Apparently I'm in the silent majority on this. Because I am a Christian and should care less.

And I thought that Bruce Springsteen had a lot more sense than that and he supports the Dixie Chicks. I hope that the Dixie Chicks, Bruce Springsteen, Madonna, and all of the people who could care less will give a concert in Baghdad.

And apparently the sob story didn't work for the TV audiences either. ER won the time for NBC with a 13.7 rating, the interview finished dead last in the ratings in the time slot with a 9.1 rating.

Have a Nice Day, Folks!!! God Bless America and Our Troops!!! Bring Them Home!!!

And in advance,I am sorry that I put that about Bruce Springsteen being an A.T.!!! I will keep my opinions about that to myself!!!

DIXIE CHICKS POSING NUDE????!!!! WHICH ISSUE IS THAT!!!!!!

See, by subscribing to yourr own personal opinions, it rules out the possibility that the Dixie Chicks are telling the truth about the thefts and harrassment. Wouldn't you think that with all the jingoistic fervor going on against them that some knucklehead would do that to them??

And what is it about being a Christian that makes some people inclined to believe LESS than the best about a person?

I'm a cool rocking Daddy in the U.S.A. Thanks for posting that reminder or, in some cases, first time exposure to the real Bruce Springsteen lyric. Funny how people automatically assume that the song was about praising brain-dead patriotism rather than having a voice (real patriotism) in the USA.
