I know this is sort of an odd question and even more odd that I might notice it,but why did they always drink coffee at supper? Of course the boys drank milk because it was good for them, but why coffee for Ward and June? I was just wondering if anyone had an opinion or a self made theory about this. You can tell that the Cleavers were not from the south because if they were it would be sweet tea instead of coffee. I wonder what Ward and June would think about kids drinking soda with their meals today?

Coffee with dinner was definetly a fifties thing. All the shows like Lassie, Father Knows Best, etc. had the adults drinking coffee with dinner. What other alternative was there? Heaven forbid that Ward and June drink wine!

Another thing that drives me crazy is, why in the world did Ward and June have to know what the Beaver's conversations were while he was on the phone with one of his friends? It was the same with Wally, too. Every time either of them hung up, Ward or June asked, "What was that conversation all about?" Or something to that effect. Did these kids ever get any privacy when on the phone?

They certainly recieved little or no privacy.Of course Ward and June wanted to be involved in every facet of Wally and the Beavers life. They had to know all about where they went what picture they went to see. Who Wally was going out with on a particular evening. They were quite involved in everything Wally and Beaver did. It really unnerved me how June would always want Ward to intervene when Wally had female troubles. I guess if todays parents were that understanding and really wanted to know that much about their childrens lives we wouldnt have all of the tragedies that we have in schools. Of course I realize that the show was fiction and even in that day some parents werent tuned in with their kids but anyone would have to admit it was a whole lot safer time to live back then.

Intresting, I notice senior citizens drink coffie all day too. I think we may see a return to that. Todays young people seem to spend hours at Starbucks, and other espreesio cafes.Sorry I cant spell espresso, much less drink it! Imagine Jue and Ward with double Lattes!

Well, just a hunch, but wouldn't they need all that caffeine in order to stay awake long enough to see what time Wally rolled in? I dunno, in my opinion, Ward and June could do no wrong. They wanted to be involved in their boys lives and I think that's the reason Wally and Beaver grew up to be such "fine young men."
