Wow! I was just checking my schedule out (for taping) since there is so much changing tomorrow/tomorrow night. I was checking to see what episodes of Kate and Allie air tomorrow and noticed that they now will air at 8 a.m. instead of 7 a.m.

A Different World will now be airing from 9 to 10 and Cybill from 10 to 11 (I think, all EST). Each show will now air in 1 hour timeslots. A Different World will also air then in the afternoon twice.

I'm THRILLED because I LOVE A Different World but ugh it totally messes up my taping schedule! :(

I hope put this post in the right board...

Oh, hopefully Ab Fab will get a more rgular showing. They just shove it on whenever they feel like it.

Pardon my ignorance if it's obvious. but what is AbFab?

AbFab is Absolutely Fabulous. I can't really give a description, but Oxygen has a page for it. It's a british import, it's pretty funny. Airs on weekends, around 40 minutes.

I'm pretty happy about A Different World, but that could screw up my entire taping schedule. That's quite a surprise actually.

Oxygen has the rights to Grace Under Fire, so they need to air that too. Though they've had them for a while and it's yet to air, so maybe they lost them...

I'm glad they moved up Kate and Allie too.

Okay thanks for explainig. I was sitting here thinking maybe I was just out of it for not knowing what Ab Fab was :)

Moving Kate & Allie, Cybill and A Different World COMPLETELY messes up my taping schedule because I HAVE to tape those. Before I was taping 3rd Rock From The Sun, Suddenly Susan etc. Plus today Quincy starts and that's another must tape. I wanted to start taping Hazel but that interferes as well. I'm wondering how long TVL will air Gidget (or is it Flying Nun?) at 5 because I'm already "booked" on that time slot while I'm at work. :rolleyes: I swear....this is like a second job!!

Yeah, it is like a second job, lol.

Gidget will stay regularly from April-May. I'm sure it'll come back eventually. I was going to start taping that too, but I'll have to tape A Different World at 5pm instead, because my satellite... well... it's too hard to explain, lol.

Yeah, I'm taping Quincy today too. In a way, that interferes with Dynasty, but with Hallmark and SOAPnet, I can get both channels at the same time, but for channels like Oxygen, TBS, etc. I can't watch say TBS at the same time as Hallmark. Even though I have two satellite receivers, I'm too cheap to properly split the signal, so... It's a definite plus having two receivers.

I also tape Married with Children at 5. So that might be out too. I can't tape A Different World at 9 because I tape Mary Tyler Moore then... Sheesh.

It IS like a job.

I have basic cable as well, so I could probably attempt to get Married with Children on that...

EDIT: Well, I'm halfway through with Married with Children, so I'll probably finish that on satellite and catch A Different World in a few months (hopefully Oxygen still has it at some good timeslots then... I dunno, lol, I'll make up my mind soon.)

I may just have to go out and get the satellite dual lnb, even though I dread the thought of running another line JUST to record some shows... lol, pathetic?

Wow I thought I TAPED A lot.

Where is MTM on at 9? That was one of the shows I taped early in the morning, one I'd prefer to keep taping.

Right now I tape Lifetime from 8 to 11. I have 2 seasons shy of a complete Designing Women and a smattering shy of The Nanny (less than 10 episodes). Golden Girls I could *probably* start taping at night (11 p.m.) which would free me up in the a.m. taping after Desining Women. I could catch MTM, Hazel, etc. If one of the ep's of Nanny came on I needed I could skip MTM...I dunno. I have 2 TV's/2 cable hook ups but because of where I live that's all I'm allowed to have so I'm stuck at what it is now.

I really do want to tape Gidget so I'll have to work around that. :crazy: <----------------- That's how I feel thinking about all these schedule changes...and that doesn't include TONIGHT when WINGS starts :)

TVJunkie101

Oh, dang, Wings. LOL, another one I want to tape. MTM airs at 9am on TVL, every day except Sunday. I've gotten 70 odd episodes so far.

Yeah, I thankfully, usually, work from home a lot, giving me a lot of time to tape and be here at the same time, which probably isn't a good thing ;)

I know this isn't a tape trading board, lol, but here is what I tape A DAY (not counting primetime: ABC, WB, etc.)

8AM California Dreams (WGN)
9AM Mary Tyler Moore (TV Land)
10AM ER (TNT)
11AM ER (TNT)
12PM Quincy (Hallmark)
1PM Quincy (Hallmark) / Dynasty (SOAPnet)
2PM Knots Landing (SOAPnet)
5PM - up in the air right now, LOL
11PM - I Love Lucy (TV Land)
11:30 - Flying Nun - maybe (TV Land)
2:30AM - Barney Miller (TV Land)
5AM - Charlie's Angels (TV Land)

SATURDAY
7AM - 90210 (FX)
8AM - 90210 (FX) / Hogan's Heroes (Hallmark)
9AM - 90210 (FX)
12AM - Welcome Back Kotter
1:30 - My Favorite Martian

Thankfully, I get a west coast feed of Nick at Nite, so I can tape WINGS at 2am at the same time as Barney Miller. At 11PM, it wouldn't work out.

I'm close to finishing up Charlie's Angels. Dynasty and Knots Landing, I still have at least 100 more episodes to go for them, because they had to run for 200 and 300 episodes, lol. UGH.

As much as you like a show, isn't it awful when you want it to end because you're tired of taping? LOL.

I wanted to tape Get Smart, but that inteferes with California Dreams, but I should be done with CD in a few weeks. And I'm going to start taping Adventures of Superman this week too.

Oh I thought you taped MTM at 9 at night, I was gonna say hook me up to that channel! :)

Your taping schedule sounds like mine ~ constant. Only I work at night at I leave at 2 p.m. I have digital cable so I have to set the channel I'm taping and it has to stay there, I can't skip around channels. I can do that on my upstairs TV because it's regular cable. That helps a little when I'm at work. I've had problems getting my TV clock and the regular scheduling to conincide though so I've missed some beginnings/endings of shows which irritates me.

Here is my schedule (as of today):

TV 1:

I've Got A Secret (it has celebrities on it and it makes it easier for me to not have to change tapes/channels right before the rest of the Oxygen Morning Lineup)
Kate and Allie
Cybill
A Different World
Miami Vice
Young and the Restless (tape this for an Australian friend)

Usually I tape Roswell/Knight Rider at 5 - 7 but that will change now because of Gidget. I also tape Will and Grace or Friends, Roseanne, etc, which is all on when I go to work. When I get home I tape the ABC/CBS/NBC lineup that I watch that particular night.

Macgyver
Sanford and Son
Dick Van Dyke
Barney Miller
Bob Newhart
Superman
Batman
Charlies Angels (Almost done with that!)
Mama's Family

TV 2:

Waltons
Designing Women
Mary Tyler Moore
3rd Rock from the Sun
Golden Girls
Nanny
Step By Step
Wonder Years
Quincy
(then I leave for work and have to set the channel to Goodlife)
Highway To Heaven

4 nights out of 7 I tape Goodlife when I get home until 12 or 1 .m. because it's got shows I LOVE, like Homefront, Finder of Lost Loves, etc.

After that is over:

Cheers
All In The Family
Three's Company
Perfect Strangers
Head of the Class
Family Ties

This doesn't include anything extra I might happen to tape on weekends, off times when I am not at work, like I try and tape Hill Street Blues as often as possible as well as Third Watch.

It's crazy!!!

I am so happy A Different World is back. Though for me it also a conflict. 5 pm is the same time I watch Married with Children on FX, Fresh Prince on channel 11 WPIX New York, and of course Parden the Interuption on ESPN.

I am not home at 9 am everyday, but A Different World is also on at 9 am and 9: 30 am on channel 9 WWOR. But I am glad it is on Oxygen because channel 9 skips episodes alot, sometimes they even skip half of a season, I cheked out the Oxygen A Different World episode description on tv.yahoo.com and the episodes are in order.

Not one to compain but does A Different World really belong on Oxygen? With the exeption of the first season (which I diffently could see on Oxygen), the show was an onsumble show.

I don't think of it as a show starting women like Kate and Allie, Designing Women, if anything I think of it as an african american show. The men were just as important as the women. Though they were much more women on the cast. It belongs on any channel dedicated to one type of audience, BET.

But hey, I am happy it is on Oxygen.

I agree. It does seem sort of like an odd acquistion for Oxygen. But like you, I'm just happy it's airing again.

The thing that worries me is that because it is an odd aquition for Oxygen, A Different World might get poor ratings and won't be on Oxygen that long.

I've felt that way before. I was taping copies of Archie Bunker's Place before TVL drops it, but I stopped recording it a few weeks ago. Maybe it'll come back later on and I can record it later, but if it doesn't, well maybe it'll come out on dvd or something.

I feel kind of weird. It looks like everybody on here is recording so much and my recording level is going down. I record Buffy on FX, but this is the last week for recording on that channel. They are on season 6 on FX and don't show 7 on there. I won't make copies because I think Buffy is gonna be the one show that I'll get dvds to each season. I record the Tuesday season 7 Buffy ep on UPN and I tape the season 4 ep of Angel on the WB. That's it.

Jenny, lol, you're not weird for not taping a lot. You should see the hundreds of tapes I have. Sure, taping shows has it's plusses, but a ton of minuses.

Anyway, I just tape shows I like because I know they aren't going to be around forever. I've learned that the hard way. I remembe when I first got TV Land back in late 2000, I had it for several months, but never taped anything, and then I got it back in late 2001, and still never taped anything until February 2002. I kick myself for it now, but I'll live.

I had the chance to record all of Good Times before it left TBS; never did. Now, it's not on at all, I have the 1st season dvds...

Taping has sort of becom an obsession with me, lol. I just figure, well, now I have a chance to tape a lot of stuff with darn good picture quality (I have satellite) and I have the free time to do it... lol.

Don't feel weird. It's definately, at times, a huge hassle. I tend to tape things without commercials too (with the exceptions of Dynasty and Knots Landing) so that makes for an even bigger hassle, but in the long run, it turns out better. Less tapes, and the shows are available whenever I want to watch.

I used to record a lot too. You should see all my tapes. It takes up half of the room. :lol: It still seems odd that I'm used to taping so much and now then it's just going down. It feels like I should be recording something, but I have almost nothing to tape. Yeah, I think I'm a little obsessed too. lol

You know, the only show I really screwed up with was FOL. I wanted to record it on Hallmark and thought I'd have the chance to record it during the next rotation, but you know how that worked out.

Well, for me, for Facts of Life, I missed it on Nick @ Nite, and whe it came to TV Land for the fandemonium, I figured that would be my last chance, so I taped the entire thing.

So then, it comes to Hallmark. I taped just about every episode they aired too. I think now I'm only missing 10 episodes.

I screwed up with Diff'rent Strokes though. I missed that on Nick @ Nite as well (I figured it would be there for a while, lol) and then when it came to TNN, I didn't even THINK to tape it. So, I finally decided to and got about 40 episodes (at best) before it was taken off. I had stopped midway through to tape Donna Reed off TVL. So, Donna was ending in Sept 02, so I figured, cool, I can get more DS on TNN. WRONG. It was dropped then too.

That was really what got me starting to tape almost ANYTHING I liked watching.

I can't really remember if I recorded DS on N @ N. I think I did, maybe I just recorded the special marathons or something? I didn't record it on TNN either. I guess the meat of my DS collection came from that TVL Fandemonium marathon.

And speaking of the DS fandemonium... I missed that too, LOL.

So, like I said, If I see a show I like, It comes on at a "free" time, I usually tape it.

I made sure to tape Batman during it's first rotation on TV Land. Ditto to Sanford and Son this year.

And certain shows I don't expect to be around for a while, I usually tape (Welcome Back Kotter, My Favorite Martian).

I will admit, I probably tape far too much, but, like they say: "No time like the present."

I give you all credit for all the taping, it can be really cool to have all those episodes of shows you love and not be at the mercy of the networks. I just find it to hard to do. I fear I was miss it and I would get crazy about keeping up with it. I haven't taped a show like that since I got every episode of Moonlighting back when it was on ABC in the 1980s ( i still have the tapes).

Different World on OXygen:
I agree it does seem a little odd, this isn;t completly a female lead series but I think the people who watch it tend to be woman, so that must be why it is on.

Here are some shows I wish Oxygen would show (please let me know what you think):

Anything But Love
Roseanne
Tracy Ulman (the one from FOX in the 80's)
Duet
My Sister Sam

Thanks!

I was pretty lucky with that DS marathon. I have two tv sets and two vcrs and that makes it easier to record those long marathons. Anyway, during the weekend of that DS marathon, one of the tv sets screwed up. Yep, that's just my luck. So I was down to one tv set and one vcr and I just had to stay and switch it out a bunch of times.

Oh yeah, I recorded Batman early too. When I started recording, I think it was on the Shame eps, the first Shame eps, and I started recording then. I made my copies and I think I stopped recording shortly after they moved Batman to 4 am.

I know this is OT (Oh well lol) but I know what you guys mean about hectic tape schedules. Right now mine isn't nearly as bad as the ones you have, but werm it used to be. Right now I tape Dark Shadows at 8am, Dynasty at 10am, and Ryan's Hope at 3pm. The thing with all those is that they ran for a long long time. DS is like 350 or so episodes away from the finale and I have the first 60 episodes already, so I'll have like a month off from it later this year. *Shoo* Dynasty is going to take until like late this year at the earliest because I only started taping with #64. And Ryan's Hope lasted 3000+ episodes and they're only on around 1636. I don't plan on taping all those. ^-^

I'm running out of room now :( I have approx. 160 tapes from the last year and a half and now they're all over the place. Soon they'll take over my room *Screams in horror*

Here is just ONE shot of my tape room - it's my spare room, I don't go in except for tape stuff. I literally add tapes and tapes every single day. I need more cases but dont have the money to buy them.

I'm like TVJunkie - I tape anything I have interest in watching, or may at some time, because by the time I'd want to start taping/watching it they'll take it off. I could KICK myself over so many things that I did not tape, or taped and taped over.

And for the person who suggested Roseanne be on the Oxygen Channel - it airs on 43 different channels now :) That's quite enough :)

Wow.....:lol:. Compared to you all, I have nothing. lol I have about 13 tapes full of 150 episodes of 'Facts.' Uh....one tape with 2 episodes of 'ALF'. Damn Hallmark..... And starting today, I'm going to be recording Futurama from Adult Swim on CN.

I don't even have nearly that many tapes. I don't have too many tapes, atlest not that many to fill a room.

At the moment, I'm recording a couple different shows daily, and my taping schedule, is a hassle. I have to keep track of the episodes I have, the episodes that I'm missing, the episode in which are airing in the future, etc. Usually when I tape, they are shows that rarely come on TV, or just shows that I like myself, so I try to tape them while I can. I too, think taping has became a hobby, LOL.

I feel that pain. Match Game (the ones I want anyway) was on 5 days a week from mid 73 to mid 78. Plus the once a week nighttime from 75-78. 121 eps of that I think.

Then there's Family Feud. 5 days a week from July 1976 to September 1985. Over 2000. Ugh.

Seeing that picture of your spare room just made a question pop into my head. Okay, this question is dedicated to each and every person that records a lot on a daily basis. Where do all the boxes go? I always have more tapes than I do boxes. I know the little boxes can't stand up and walk off by itself, so where do they go?

*shrugs* I dunno. And I'm so lazy about labeling them, half the time I have a stack of tapes that I don't know what's on them.

I always keep the boxes on the tape, because I tend to lose them. But in the past, I have not kept track of the boxes, and I'm left with only the tape. Then, I have no idea where I have left them. I don't label the tapes, because it's difficult to get the labels off the tape, when I want to change them. I use a post-it note to label my tapes and then, I stick it to the cover of the box.

I do alot of taping too. It all started when my dad began to tape all the Star Trek series (we are very close to having every episode of every Trek series on tape :)) and I branched out. Currently, I tape:

Any Trek I don't have, Pokemon, Tokyo Pig, Frasier, A Different World (as of today), The Simpsons, Power Rangers (from original to Zeo only) and other random stuff from the occasional mystery to AFV.

A year ago I was taping everything from I Love Lucy, THe Lucy Show (for the three weeks my local station syndicated it! Got the entire 1st season, though), DvD, Mary T. Moore, Diff'rent Strokes, FOL, Andy Griffith, Beverly Hillbillies and many more.

So, my recording level has shifted as well.

I can't wait until TV Land, N@N, Hallmark, etc. start showing new comedies. Mr. Ed for instance, is one my mom says I'll probably like. :)

That's how I am sometimes too. I label the tapes with what I think will be on the tape and sometimes I don't have enough tape left to actually record a certain show that I've already put on the label. At times, I'll just record something that isn't on my normal recording schedule and I'll forget to put it on the label.

I keep all the blank tapes in a bag and just put an empty box in the bag and I'll still lose them. How can a person do that? lol I always lose the boxes. I never lose the tapes.

My closet looks exactly like your tape room! I literally have columns of tapes right next to each other in a row. My closet looks like an endless sea of tapes. I have tapes all over the place in there. One day I hope to get shelves and storage area for the tapes I have.

I haven't been taping that much lately. I am worn out of constantly taping everything I think should have on tape especially if you have taped for about six years straight. That's me. I would rather see shows that are my favorites be out on DVD than taping them episode by episode, season by season, ect. Taping can be a big hassel after awhile that's for sure. Here is a list of shows that I want on DVD:
* "Addams Family, The" (1964-1966, 64 episodes / 2 seasons)
* "Baby Talk" (1991-1992, 35 episodes / 2 seasons)
* "Batman" (1966-1968, 120 episodes / 3 seasons)
* "Bewitched" (1964-1972, 254 episodes / 8 seasons)
* "Brady Bunch, The" (1969-1974, 117 episodes / 5 seasons)
* "Dick Van Dyke Show, The" (1961-1966, 158 episodes / 5 seasons)
* "Diff'rent Strokes" (1978-1986, 189 episodes / 8 seasons)
* "Family Matters" (1989-1998, 215 episodes / 9 seasons)
* "Full House" (1987-1995, 192 episodes / 8 seasons)
* "Growing Pains" (1985-1992, 166 episodes / 7 seasons)
* "Golden Girls, The" (1985-1992, 180 episodes / 7 seasons)
* "Happy Days" (1974-1984, 255 episodes / 11 seasons)
* "Here's Lucy" (1968-1974, 144 episodes / 6 seasons)
* "I Dream Of Jeannie" (1965-1970, 139 episodes / 5 seasons)
* "I Love Lucy" (1951-1957, 181 episodes / 6 seasons)
* "Jeffersons, The" (1975-1985, 253 episodes / 11 seasons)
* "Laverne & Shirley" (1976-1983, 178 episodes / 8 seasons)
* "Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour, The" (1957-1960, 13 episodes / 3 seasons)
* "Lucy Show, The" (1962-1968, 156 episodes / 6 seasons)
* "Mama's Family" (1982-1990, 130 episodes / 8 seasons)
* "Mary Tyler Moore" (1970-1977, 168 seasons / 7 seasons)
* "Mister Ed" (1961-1966, 143 episodes / 5 seasons)
* "Mork & Mindy" (1978-1982 , 95 episodes / 4 seasons)
* "Munsters, The (1964-1966, 70 episodes / 2 seasons)
* "Saved By The Bell" (1987-1990, 86 episodes / 3 seasons)
* "Sanford and Son" (1972-1977, 136 episodes / 6 seasons)
* "Step By Step" (1991-1998, 160 episodes / 7 seasons)
* "Three's Company" (1977-1984, 174 episodes / 8 seasons)
* "Wonder Years, The" (1988-1993, 115 episodes / 5 seasons)

The ones that are in bold are the shows that would like to see come out first on DVD.
That's my list for now but I am sure there's more than this.

I thought I'd answer this too. *giggles* Yeah werm. I keep my boxes all over my room. Most of them are hidden away in drawers under my bed, but now I ran out of room there and they are invading my shelves. I never have a problem with boxes being missing unless I accidently throw them away or something. *Shrug* It all started when I got my own VCR for Christmas in 2000, lol. As for labeling, I label each of my tapes by assigning them a number. One tape is CTV (Classic Television) - 101, one is CTV-102, etc. I then tape a list of what's on it to the front of the tape and keep a database of whats on them on my computer so I don't tape things twice.

I'd buy those. That way all those 10 year old FH tapes I have could be used for something else.

I do the exact same thing, I've done it ever since I've started recording series, I have all the shows I have taped on a list, and I keep track of what episodes I'm missing, so when they come back on, I'll know which episodes to tape. So I don't tape the episodes I do have, over again.

I do that too ... now. LOL, I never used to really label the episodes that were on a tape, and some tapes don't even have labels period. Now I label the tape with what is on that specific tape, and then it goes into my computer, or vice versa. That way, like Impressions, I know exactly what to tape if I missed an episode (or if "wonderful" TV Land skipped an episode)

I should do that. I think I have the same MG episode 3 times. Once I did that, I had one in SLP, one in LP, and one in SP.
